seems legit... for me it is hit and miss... at steady speed ECT on (I have cruse control but never use it so with cruse off) my milage is better... on the other hand if I get in a hurry (which is not very often) it seems to use more fuel with ECT on than with it off.

nice! low miles there... these things seem to run forever in my experience.
could be partly because they are so easy on oil. my old dodge would sheer oil like there was no tomorrow... 3k was borderline on worn out for every oil I tried.
when I drain the taco every 5-7k the oil is still apple juice colored and in perfect shape all around - I am half tempted to run it through the dodge after the taco is through with it to save money lol...

I will see if I can find my slip from when I did mine shortly after I bought it... all I remember is that it was in really good shape after going a super long 7600 miles.

I think we all went down this SR5 path before and determined it's just a shiny chrome badge that some got and others didn't.
Mine's SR5, manual locks, 60/40, manual mirrors, vinyl headliner, cheap plastic armrest, manual windows.
Has carpet, AC , tacometer and a sliding rear window. :notsure:
For the record, mine does not have the chrome SR5 badge, but it's listed on all the paperwork for the truck as SR5.

    Wait... vinyl headliner?

I just checked my VIN in a database and apparently I have an SR5 too. I just realized that. I don't have the badges either, on my 'C' Pillar where the SR5 logo would go it's just a badge that says "Toyota Motorsports". I have a PreRunner with manual windows, locks, and mirrors. 2.7l L4 with the tach and all that jazz.

I'm putting in power doors in my truck this weekend so then it'll apparently be a true "SR5", whatever it means.

My 2000 Mercedes-Benz E320 needs a synthetic oil change every 3,000 miles it's crazy. It does have about 285,000 miles on it so I'll give it an excuse lol. It's also a German car, that's a whole excuse in itself. I thought 285k on a Benz was impressive... until I came across this forum and the guy with 998,000 miles on his SR5.

It's crazy, Tacomas sell for upwards of $15,000 and they have an average of 150,000+ miles on them. Whoever buys them would go on to drive them for another 200-300 thousand miles. One a Benz gets to 150,000-200,000 they just scrap them because repairs are too much.

I check the KBB value of my Tacoma, it was around $7,500. (I know I can get more if I tried) The truck's MSRP was around $24,000.

Then I check the KBB on my Benz.. you'll never believe it.

    $250.

No you read that right, $250. Accounting for inflation the MSRP was around $70,000 new.

Toyotas (and JDM cars in general) are crazy reliable. My neighbor has an '89 Camry with something like 450,000 miles on it.

given Toyota's awesome track record of changing shit all the time..who the hell knows haha especially with the 95-97 years.

However...you have AC and a Tac. so that is not standard..Bet it was some of the SR5 options without the full whammy.

Early tacos had a vinyl headliner.

Found this thread with some interesting info on the SR5 meaning.

I'm sure it was different in earlier years, but straight from the brochure for an '04, here is what the SR5 packages offered.

SR5 Chrome Package — includes chrome bumpers and grille surround, defroster-linked CFC-free air conditioning, dual-fabric sun visors with mirror and visor extensions, orange-illuminated white-faced gauges (speedometer, tachometer with LCD twin tripmeters, and coolant temperature and fuel-level meters), digital clock, tilt steering wheel, washer-linked variable intermittent windshield wipers and Deluxe AM/FM Cassette/CD with four speakers (Regular Cab) or six speakers (Xtracab and Double Cab)

SR5 Color-Keyed Package— includes all SR5 Chrome Package contents, with color-keyed bumpers and grille surround in place of chrome bumpers and grille surround; color-keyed door handles; color-keyed remote mirrors are included on 4x2 models, available on PreRunner and 4x4 models

Do note that SR5 is a package, so it is a lump of various options. It's likely that buyers could request specific options to have added to trucks not equipped with and SR5 package.

It is also worth noting that there were other packages available, and some of those offer some of the options included in SR5 packages.

For anyone who wants to educate themselves, and know instead of think.

    http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Tacoma/Toyota_US Tacoma_2004.pdf

This site only has the brochures for '01-'04 listed, so I can't verify the earlier years. It gets especially muddled in the earliest ones with the LX and DLX and so on, which were discontinued/renamed/split into other packages/etc...
