What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Pretty good chance the grappler he bought could handle them. Can generate a good deal of pressure with the forcing screw. Look up people using the grappler, it is a solid tool for this.

 

Idk if a grappler will generate 40-47 tons of force man

 

I've seen it remove tougher bearings than ours, somehow ours got a reputation for being really tough, but when was the last time someone tried doing them with a dedicated puller and a slide hammer? I'd put money on this working exactly as described.

Lots of videos on this tool being used though, and on much burlier equipment, a mini truck shouldn't be much trouble for it.

 

Its getting them back in. Considering how many accounts there are of people breaking their 20t pressing trying to get them in..I'm not risking it.

And lots of accounts of people seeing it take 40-47t of force to make happen..

 

Bolted LED pods to the rear bumper and took apart my cluster to glue the tach stop pin back on

 

A forcing screw and properly sized cups/forcing plates should handle that no problem if it is lined up properly. A hydro press is not the ideal tool for the job. You know how high the clamping force of a grade 8 1/2in bolt is, the forcing screw of the grappler is a step above that.

 

A little backshift, lunch break, dark parking lot troubleshooting... Stereo quit. Of course it had to be the fuse on the back of the unit. Easy job, just a little pain to do at 0130 in the dark

 

Huh, seems odd that a hard to get to fuse would just blow for some random unknown reason. Kinda seems prudent to find out why it blew in the first place. Otherwise you will be going through all that again.

 

I hear you. The main amp in the block is a 15 amp iirc, and this was a 10 amp which makes sense. Why it blew? but it is a $50 best buy special from quite a few years ago. it's been blown for awhile now, just finally got the truck back and driving it after weeks of being gone, but I do recall a situation where it was jumped around that time and some cables may have been crossed... So as long as it doesn't pop again, should good to go.

New tunes in the doors. Crutchfield made it easy with all the adapters. What a better sound than 20 year old rotten paper. These Kickers were on close-out due to a new model being released. Now I just need to solve a couple of door rattles and get the Rockville 8" mounted. Truck already had a Pioneer DEHP2900MP installed when I bought it that works fine.

I did this on my 99. Sounded great

 

I keep hearing that, but the FSM shows them being removed with a tool similar to the hub grappler.

Looking back over my posts from the last week or so, it would seem the pain meds I've been on really F' with my ability to think...

As for my 1st Gen, I looked at it longingly...

 

I just think it hasn't been waxed or anything for quite some time.
