What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I replaced my injectors with 2004 injectors and there was a big performance difference between the 1997 injectors. The 2004 injectors are larger and
better flow and spray patterns

Huh okay, I wish mine were. I like the orange color mine seem almost faded

 

You can take them off and repaint them, take the paint off the back of them and repaint with fluorescent paint. I did and they look like new.

 

Sanded it down, added a bed rack and a new tailgate.

 

Yeah I saw that how to. I think I'll leave the brittle plastic alone, would be a challenge to find another cluster with a tach for a 4cyl. We mostly got the stupid clusters with only one clumsy looking speedo.

 

Put clear plastic lens covers over my license plate today, got a ticket yesterday because I had smoked tinted lens before, so beware , grrr

 

I'd cover mine if it was allowed in WA, we can't have anything over them at all. I had my tow ball in the way of the plate (factory) on my old Explorer and got a fix it ticket. But even still I don't run a front plate at all and cops always mention it but none have said I must put it on. I think they understand the front plate is useless.

 

You said you used OEM bushings, but I don't see them listed on my dealers website. Well I see the item listed as #12 in the exploded parts view of the front suspension, but its not listed in the adjacent price list..

Do you have a part number? I was planning on going with Whitelines but I'd consider OEM as well.

 

I appreciate the feedback man, I think this may be the issue.

 

So I tried to change my spark plugs and wires yesterday, once it was all changed it misfired. So we changed the wires back and it still misfired. We started to narrow down which plug it was but it misfired every time we would switch one plug out for the old. So we put it all back to old plugs and old wires and it still misfires. The gap is set to 0.044 which is what I found they need. Pretty lost as usually it's just put new ones in and it's good to go. So any help would be greatly appreciated.


I also swapped out my CAI for a stock intake, not that it should've affected anything but the more info you guys have the better.

Have you tried unplugging battery for awhile to see if that effects anything? Probably not it but worth a try.

 

Check coil packs, these cause lots of misfires and sometimes are hard to tell if they are faulty because they randomly decide to work and then not work,
Are you using dielectric grease???

How would one check those? I've never had to check because they usually work, no I'm not but would that really affect it that much?

Need some help! Ordered an enclosed subwoofer/amplifier from Rockville. I have a 4 gauge wire running as my power source, 8 gauge wire running to my ground, and a 12 gauge wire running as my remote wire. I have the remote wire tapped into my cigarette lighter fuse. I've been getting the red "problem" light. Does it have to do with my remote wire? Does it have to go into the back of my stereo? Any options or help would be great.
