Replaced the fuel filter. Annoyingly tedious, but overall not difficult. The fuel that came out of the filter though :puke: My records show it hasn't been changed in 142K miles, and it shows.
I'm sure it's placebo, but it definitely runs smoother! :D

First part is honest, second part is satirical. Chances are, benefits of changing the filter aren't easily noticeable to the driver.

I'd tend to agree unless your boosted or have a rusty fuel tank. That reminds me I need to send my replacement fuel injectors out to be ultrasonically cleaned and have the pintle seats replaced. Want to see if that cures my tractor idle. It never threatens to stall and the long and short term trims are good but it idles very Shakey. Figure it's good maintenance on a 270k vehicle anyway.

Did you know that fuel injectors each have their own little filter/strainer too?

I did not. Frankly, I know very little about fuel injectors other than their job.

Check out WitchHunter Injector Service and Mr.Injector. They both have good pics and details about the injectors and the service they provide. I'll be having mine done at Mr. injector but that's just because they are 35mins from me. WitchHunter is based out of western Wa and has so much business their turnaround times are bit long right now.

Me too. It's one of the last things on my list.

What does everyone think about replacing oxygen sensors? Toyota doesn't mention it, Haynes manual says to replace them every 90,000 miles.

Hmmm. Mine idles a little rough too, has a bit of a rattle in it, I figured it was just valve wear.

Yesterday I installed a sub into my 97 Single Cab. Love the sound and that I can still move my seat all the way back.
