What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

well considering the tundra frame is 6'' wider than a tacoma frame...i don't think that would go well.

 

Don't listen to these guys, I think a V8 powered 1st gen is the shit. Not sure what they are trying to prove by making you think you need to go their route.
In fact, every 4x4 I ever owned with the exception of the Taco, has had a V8 swap done on it.
It's been done already, not seeing a problem with it. Looking forward to your progress.

Look at all the dudes on here who did a prerunner to 4x4 swap, while every asshole on here says to buy another truck...

So I’m ordering a blower motor because mine is making all sorts of squeaky noises, and my research tells me that’s what it is. Can anyone tell me if I need to order one with or without the wheel??

I think you're mis-representing what's being said. No one said "don't do the v8;" rather, we're just saying "don't wait to be done modding before you take it out driving."

We can all mod forever. If that meant never adventuring, would it be worth it? I don't think so.

Do a project at a time, between trips, and based on whatever you find to be "most annoying" on the last trip(s). Then you get the best of both worlds

I took as the massive undertaking of this dream I had and you guys were slapping me with the "hey look this is what your up against" I appreciate what you guys said and I didn't think of the"behind the scenes" stuff I'd have to do to make this work.

 

Sometimes the little clip that holds it on the motor spindle gets rusty (condensation) but you should still be able to remove it with some force. If the wheel is under $10 I'd just buy it to save the effort of trying not to break the other haha.

Lol man you read everything all wrong. All we're saying is we've been through and are still going through everything he wants to go through. And we are just encouraging him to think less about a bunch of mods all at once, especially the more difficult and more time consuming ones. Because we know it'll end up on jackstands for a long time. And we know it's shitty and it's better to enjoy the truck and get out there and have fun. And do the mods when they become necessary so you don't end up waking up every morning looking at your truck on jackstands thinking "Why the hell didn't I just wait a few more months" It's a lot of money and a lot of time and usually you're only going to have one or the other. So enjoy the truck in different stages is all.

 

Plus quite often you only see the really cool stuff on here, not the hours of shit it took to get there. Gives a false perspective of the amount of work to payoff ratio.

 

Agreed, some people don't realize how much work it takes to do all these things. Which is fine, but that's why we're here to tell everyone it's a fuckfest

lf wheel bearing, tundra 13wl upgrade, rear brakes with all hardware, rr axle seal, fluids in front and rear diffs plus transfer case, oil change and rotate..... I'm tired

I mean you're getting a 4.7l for free. There is no reason NOT to put that shit in the taco.

All i'm saying, it store it well for now..and starting doing a lot of reading and research before jumping into that. For instance, i've never seen a 2uzfe swap that the tacoma didn't have a 1'' body lift on.

Put some dirt miles on the truck first before staring a big project like that. Thats a full winter project. Summer is wheeling!

 

And when you do tackle all this amazing stuff, you'll know where to come for help. We all try to be here for each other and help as much as we can. Hell, last year we had some guy break down and another member that had never met him before happen to live near him, drove out to him and got him back on the road.
