    I had been meaning to relocate my spare tire and drew up a diagram of a homemade mount.

    Black rectangles=Existing OEM tie-downs
    Lime Green=Ratchet strap
    Red=tire and Dark red=rim
    Black circles=bolts that go through tire rim
    grey long rectangle behind tire=angle aluminum or flat iron piece

    The flat metal piece of angle aluminum or flat iron would be drilled to bolt into existing OEM tie down holes.

    Just wondering if this looks like it would sturdy enough to be safe, as I am sure it will be functional. I will also include something on either side of the tire to cancel out any sideways movement strain. Eventually I'd incorporate a y type ratchet strap.

    To be honest I have had my full sized spare tire in that spot for two maybe three months and I only have two ratchet straps holding it there

    I've seen that is how most people do it, I guess I make things more difficult than they should be :D I mainly want something extra to hold it in to deter any thieves looking for a quick steal.

    lol maybe I am over thinking this a bit

    It's a solid idea if you go about doing it the more power to you... I'm building a rack for mine but that will double for other things. If it were me I would say build something similar to this In your location
