Tempting. Honestly it is. Everything but the wiring doesn't seem bad. Need a new engine, trans, transfercase. And wiring. And timing belt.

I knew that sandblaster box would come in handy. Makes a great makeshift paint booth.

Apparently letting the rattle cans soak in warm water for a while will let the paint flow better and adhere better, or so I’ve been told.

Waiting on the first layer of blue paint to dry. I’m a little mad I didn’t use any glazing putty, I sanded those deep scratches as best as I could but I saw those scratches as soon as the blue paint went on.

Well the company I ordered my water meth kit with ordered the MAF/MAP sensor, not the boost controlled one. Shouldn’t be too much of a problem right?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
If you change your engine to poly mounts they hardly hold anything besides the weight of the trans. It works really well and it super easy to drop the trans, could probably do a clutch in like 2hrs.

They tested it with triple cases and it held all those fine so I think it should be strong enough, I don't rest a skid on it like they do though, I pushed the trans and case up a lot.

hmm not sure how that one works but Id guess by reading air flow from the MAF. Will just be a different way to tuning it. More involved Id bet but probably a better way to do it than just off of boost.

From what I see it’s a 0-5 volt input. I’m not familiar with what ours put out. I’m probably just gonna cancel the order and get the one that uses a boost reference.

Almost all mafs operate in that voltage range. Id imagine ours does too. You just intercept the signal and setup the programmer to increase spray with increase voltage from the MAF which is more air moving over the sensor.

Would work just fine if not better than boost reference.

Alright I’ll have to see how the controller works haha. Shouldn’t be too tough.

Bit of a different post - an experiment as it were :D - I have a request that I'm hoping will help me debug a CEL I'm getting.

If you have a v6, and some type of OBD reader (like an ELM device from amazon, or a ScanGauge or UltraGauge, etc.), I'd really appreciate seeing your Bank 1 and Bank 2 (also sometimes called Bank 3) fuel trim numbers when you're at ~3000 rpm.

There are four numbers I'm after - again, on a v6:

Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1
Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 1

Long Term Fuel Trim - Bank 2 (or 3)
Short Term Fuel Trim - Bank 2 (or 3)

So, if the next time you're out on the freeway you can take a look at these and report back - that'd be super awesome! :hattip:

    - - -

Edit: I realized I should post mine. What I'm curious about is whether the difference between Bank1 and Bank2 is "normal."

P0171, which I got on my last trip to Death Valley. I've done a bunch of debugging already and am at a place where I think the CEL will no longer be thrown... and I'm in the process of writing that up; but I'm still curious to see if the numbers I'm seeing match what others see in the real world. (also - I plonked an image in my last post of what I'm getting...but likely after you replied)

    Definitely better.

Seems strange to me that Bank1 and Bank2 are so different though. Bank1 is "nearly perfect" and Bank2 isn't. Is that just due to how the AF sensor measures (and error introduced - air mixing, turbulence, etc.) between the injectors and the sensor? Or could it be indicative of a bad injector in bank2? Or plugs?

could be any combination of all the above really. Same idea though. Start simple. When did you last change your plugs? Or at least check the gap?

Not that far off though really.
