What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Cost me 1600 bucks now I dont have to worry about rust

 

Did you use por15 on your frame? I just bought a can in semi gloss for the frame. I was hoping to find it in flat black but never did. Is that a flat por15 you used?

 

Seeing how my Tacoma is out of circulation until I get my gears done, I spent a little time on my 1989.
New to me 4Runner seats!

 

I did 4 coats por and 3 coats rubberized undercoating

Does anyone have an opinion on re-using injector o-rings - I took my injectors out to wash my intake manifold and put everything back together on the manifold.

 

Thanks and no problem dont let the por completely dry make sure to coat while still tacky the bond is way better

 

That makes sense, to embed the undercoating into the por15. The undercoating may also protect the por15 from the uv rays to some extent.

 

Exactly also coat the por the same way

 

I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't. They're rubber and rubber around petroleum and oil tends to wear. Usually they're fine until disturbed but now, especially with you planning to put some boost around them I think you should spring for a new set. Get a couple extras incase you accidentally roll one of the ones that goes to the fuel rail too

 

New memeber here. Today I replaced the standard bulbs of my map lights and the orange bulbs from my intrument cluster with blue LEDs. Took a little while to get it all apart and back together but I think it came out great.

You're just talking about the small top and bottom ones right? The middle ones aren't sealing pressure - they seem just to be keeping debris out of the intake?

 

I replaced all three on mine, they come as a set. But yeah unless your middle ones cracked like mine did then they're probably okay

 

idk about the 4 bangers but the 3.4 has vacuum ports that go between the o ring and middle seal so that area will see boost.

 

I'm assuming everything is ok with Jay's brakes but I don't talk to him that often.

 

Replaced timing belt today, 214K mi on it, along with water pump, tensioner, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, & radiator hoses.

Neither of my air & electric impacts would budge the damn crank pulley bolt. I know lots of guys use the breaker bar & starter method but I didn't want to. Made my own pulley holder & worked great, cost me about $15 & 20 mins. Used it to hold the pulley to retorque the crank bolt too.

 

Oh we don't have that, we have special seats that isolate the injectors from the aluminum head.

 

What did you use to make that tool?

 

Those ones are in decent shape - man what a pita lol. I should have left the rails attached.
