I dont know what is right or wrong but after pouring over countless posts about OME installs and squeaky dakars along with 20 questions with Wheelers, I decided to:
no squeaks yet - time will tell.

EDIT: I know this was posted here somewhere since that is how I came across it, this article is a good read. Their ultimate advice - stick with whatever the manufacturer of the bushing recommends. https://www.suspension.com/blog/the-best-grease-for-polyurethane-bushings/

eh. All I know is none of my stuff has ever squeaked. Ever.

At least not a bushing I can lube up.

    Whatever works..works though.

Cool thanks, that sounds like the stuff that came with the Daystar kit. They are poly bushings I believe with a metal sleeve; sleeve has a hole through it to allow the grease to reach the bushing. I'll look into it and see if I can pick up a tube for a grease gun...the bolts have zerk fittings so should be pretty easy to do.

I've done a mod or two
Don't go too hard on the grease for those any resistance and the zerks will pop out of the bolt as they're only press fit, they aren't tapped and screwed. If they pop out you'll have to get new bolts or tap the hole and screw a zerk in.

Looks like Daystar sells their own flavor. The tubes are for mini grease guns. Even more expensive than the ES stuff. I have no experience with this Lubrathane stuff though, just saw it on Amazon.

Nice link, never saw that before. Seems like silicone based lube is recommended for poly bushings but there are a number of other companies that recommend the standard Super Lube synthetic grease which is not a silicone based grease.

I have 3M silicone paste that I use for other stuff & it's really thick & tacky, way thicker than the ES Formula 5 stuff, the name paste suits it well. I ordered a tub of Formula 5 to use on my bushings that don't have zerks.

I wonder if Super Lube's silicone grease is as thick & tacky as Formula 5. I suspect no since it's available in tubes for grease guns. I'm starting to think that the the tacky silicone based greases that come with poly bushings might be too thick to pump through zerks & is why they don't come in tubes for grease guns?

Not going to claim this is the solution for everyone, YMMV - it worked for me so far. Now I completed my install about a week ago, time will certainly determine if it 'worked'. As for pumping the ES Grease, worked fine when I filled my gun and used it on my OME Greasable shackles.

Just bulk load the gun's tube. Again, tacky as they come and messy but it is possible. I imagine that Daystar tube is going to be just as tacky as the ES lube. Anyway, it is possible to bulk load that ES grease using that little 8oz. (its messy! - wear gloves)

So here is what I would do - use the grease that the bushing manufacturer either supplies or says to use (more than likely its their grease). :)

For those that don't know how to bulk load a grease gun, this is essentially the process.

I use the bed a lot. I’ll likely only keep the spare up there when I’m on trails though. I did think about doing an under mount though

Yes... I know this. I replace the starter on my first gen Taco. Hence the reason why I post it here.

Edit* I understand why you made that assumption. I know..... I need to change my profile pic. I hate that turd gen and I will be selling it back to the dealer this week!!

Thank you, sir! Ive had her for about 3 months now. Almost 4k miles on it. I LOVE this bike. Had a SG before this and a Slim S before that. This is by far the best bike.

I haven't ridden a Harley that I didn't enjoy. The road King was like riding a couch, except I could scrape pipes pretty easily turning haha. My family has lots of Harley's, just wanted something lighter for quick trips since I don't do any long rides anymore.
