What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Wow. Never thought I'd ever see a power sliding rear window AND a sunroof on a 1st Gen.

Part of me believes that guy is full of shit about the factory leather. That had to be a dealer added thing, or a custom job.

 

I don’t know if I’ll ever need the sunroof, but that rear sliding window sure is cool.

I looked into leather seat covers for the truck, but for the price I can just buy better seats out of a Lexus for example already work leather. That’s exactly what I did, but they don’t recline forward so I’m a little hesitant.

 

There’s no way I could bring myself to cut a giant hole in the cab roof. You can change a bed, or a fender, or a door, but not the cab.

 

01-04 doesn't come with them either. I think many new cars don't even come with them anymore, only noticed them on some luxury cars.

 

That might be the reason why the paint and clearcoat is failing so badly on my black PreRunner. The heat from the engine, on top of the UV damage from being parked outside since 1997.

 

Well technically you can we've got body on frame, not a unibody Ridgeline.

No way. I can't even imagine drill a 4" hole for a snorkel let alone a sunroof. Haha

 

I think you're right cause the clear on my hood faded/hazed too. I wet sanded & polished but it only lasts for like 4 months then same thing. After wet sanding & polishing 3 times I just got it repainted. Funny thing is my roof is still good. Out here in sunny SoCal usually the roof is first to go. Well it's not shiny anymore but at least it's not peeling. Waiting for summer to end so I can polish the roof & back haf of the truck.

 

I’m going to have to get my roof and hood redone, hopefully I can find a good shop that can blend it well.

The intake tube? My custom made one.

 

I have recently changed my clutch, pilot bearing, fly wheel, rear main seal, transfer case output shaft seal, front differential Axle seal, driver front cv axle, sway bar links and driver side cv axel. Also put a ladder rack on it.

 

To get light on both sides of the engine.

 

Got me some bumpage too. Cali truck so the stock ones came off with ease. Rears will have to wait till next week when I pull the leafs out.

 

No extra noise when I ripped mine out. That's the first thing I did to my truck I think lol

 

Measure twice, cut once, as any carpenter will tell you!!

 

They sell all new skins, would be real PITA to replace but still possible.
