So you already have covered their mag! Niiiice, I'd have figured. If you're self taught photographer, good work man. Either way awesome shots. I love when folks self learn just because they love something. No better way to learn. Never tire of seeing your awesome pics. And the dog definitely brings life and character to the pics. Dogs kick ass. Keep it up!:thumbsup:

I've dragged my feet long enough on brakes for the taco because I have a work truck. I have to order today. I'm thinking brembo blanks and Akebono pads from Amazon for around 150. Anyone know of any similar or better bang for the buck option and staying with OEM setup? Not spending double or more for the Tundra swap. Not looking to be convinced to do that.

I've done a mod or two
Brembo and Akebono are both good stuff. As many who have done the tundy swap can tell you, it's overrated anyway.

I used to run Brembo rotors & Hawk ceramics pads for years. I've switched to Centric rotors, they ones they call "high carbon". As for pads I switched to Akebono ceramics. Really happy with this setup especially the extremely low brake dust.

    Save some money on pads:

I don't really care about swapping to Tundra brakes. My truck brakes fine & I don't tow or haul heavy loads. If/when my calipers seize then I'll consider swapping over.

Those are the pads in my Amazon cart. Nice to know that's the cheapest option.

Are the centric rotors cheaper than the brembos? You have a part number on them?

I just noticed that you already saw (liked) that post I linked to.

I used to think the Hawk pads were low dust (although the last pair I had that had problems produced more dust than they usually did). Compared to the Akebonos, it's like Akebonos don't make dust. Lol. I've never ran a pad on any of my past vehicles that produced such low dust & still have decent bite. And the Hawks are expensive now.

Yeah I've been on Akebono pads for years now, ever since I found out they were OEM supplier for the land cruisers for Toyota (and many if not most other Toyotas as well

I think Toyota may have changed makers for the LC, last time I got pads for the cruiser they were Sumitomo

Oh no shiz? I wouldn't know, haven't bought true OEM pads for a few years. I wonder if sumitomo sells pads without going through a stealership?

Yes cheaper than Brembos. They're coated black too so they won't rust over. I hear Brembos are coated too now but they never were in the past when I ran them.

Centric also has 2 cheaper lines of rotors but I've never tried them. But for $36 ea I won't even bother trying the cheaper ones.

I got them from Rock Auto. They sell the Akebono pads too if you want to buy from them. They also have a 5% coupon code in the vendors section also.

Valve cover gaskets, spark plugs/wires, pcv valve, 02 sensors (pulled a stud with one of the nuts), and oil/filter. Took a long time to clean off all the gunk on the covers, they must of been leaking for quite a while.

I love Rock Auto. I don't buy from then a whole lot, not like I do from Amazon & ebay but they have great prices, great selection, & they ship fast.

Rock auto is cool, have to be careful with what you buy though.. got some UBJs (beck and arnley) that fit but wouldn’t let the snap ring sit in the groove.. returned them and got oem..

it’s actually pretty easy, cleaning everything is probably the most time consuming part.. I’ve watched the Timmy the Toolman video for valve cover gaskets like 5 times lol.

Yeah I ordered a engine rebuild kit for an old geo metro 3cyl xfi that I rebuilt like 7 or 8 years ago. Just kinda forgot about rockauto since Amazon started carrying everything in existence lol

Yeah but to be fair, that's not Rock Auto's fault, they don't make the part. They can only choose to stop carrying specific parts that have issues. I've heard someone complain about Rock Auto's customer service before. I've never needed to return anything before, never had an issue with them yet.

True that. Sometimes Rock Auto is cheaper tham Amazon even with paying shipping. But can't beat Amazon's customer service & Prime shipping. Sometimes I'll pay a little extra from Amazon just so I can have it the same day. I love Amazon's Same Day Shipping.
