What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I envy you double cab guys. You can use the nice luxury car seats since you don’t need slide and fold for Extended Cabs. Deep down, I still like my ES300 seats better.

Yeah. Uncommon at junkyards though. The SC400 I found had nice seats, but they were this gaudy color and uncomfortable.

 

Maybe I’ll look for some TCs and get some nice seat covers

 

I think the stock seat covers are pretty nice. I went to the junkyard and sat in every two door sports car I could find, the Scion were the most modern and comfortable that could fold forward. I passed up some nice Camry leather power seats because the other seat was shot.

 

I’d prefer not to deal with power seats and other bs. Just something more comfortable

 

We’ll see how these Scion seats turn out. Have to finish removing the Scion feet and weld on the Tacoma feet.

I’ve been sitting on them in my garage and they’re damn comfortable.

 

Let me know what you think! I’m ready for new ones. And for $80 that’s so cheap!

If you’re not afraid of welding then you can make any seat work.

I’ve sat in a lot of seats, and these are pretty nice for a two door sports car.

 

I’m not afraid of welding, just don’t own one. So I gotta bum some garage time from buddies

 

I’m by no means good at welding, but it’s relatively easy to pick up. Was for me at least.

What are you using for blasting? I've just been experimenting with this for the first time on an old tool box and some old trailer wheels. I have a Campbell Hausfeld siphon tube and I tried soda which worked in the gun fine and was OK on loose, flaky paint but did nothing to good paint or rust. Tried 70 grit aluminum oxide and it was OK but pricey. Tried medium Black Diamond and it didn't work well with the gun and finally tried fine Black Diamond and seem to be getting pretty good results.

 

The most comfy buckets I've sat in to date have been the seats out of a Mitsubishi 3000GT. I put them in an 85 4Runner but sold it. If I remember correctly 3 of 4 holes lined up. In a Taco though I would guess maybe only half would line up. I'm still looking for another nice set.

I need a new clutch, and the Marlin Crawler one is out of stock. Any recommendations for a quality clutch. I am planning of getting a new flywheel to, so recommendations for that would also be welcome. My truck is a daily driver, but also sees a lot of time off road. I'm off road at least 100 times a year. Nothing too extreme like rock crawling, but I challenging enough conditions to be kind of hard on a clutch. I replaced it just three years ago, and went with a ceramic clutch. That was too aggressive, and worst of all didn't last. I read somewhere that slow gentle starts are hard on ceramic clutches, and since it is also a daily driver I do plenty of those. Anyway, it has started slipping so I'm on borrowed time. I need something that is in stock that I can order right away.
