Some looms can be brittle and break, causing plastic shrapnel to find it's way into the heads/motor. Pre-wrapping it keeps it all together while maneuvering the valve covers in and out.

@wander mojave Red Rock was the place I was thinking of. I only got to spend one day there, and we drove up the one big mountain outside Vegas, which I can't remember the name either. I grew up in West Texas, so I've always liked the desert type environment. I know from keeping up with the news, that Lake Mead is in serious trouble, if it doesn't get some serious snow run off, and soon.

Thanks @CrippledOldMan. I’ve checked them out as well. Most would need to have the bushings replaced, putting the cost over what a new aftermarket LCA would be. Appreciate the tip though.

    stock and staying that way

Its definitely been wetter this winter than the past few. The west slope of the rockies is where that water comes from so hopefully theyre getting good snow. California is the largest user of Colorado river water by far and they are getting buried with snow in the Sierras this winter. Arizona and California have agreed to cuts to help stabilize the lake.

yeah the Sierras are getting dumped on this winter...Tahoe just got 116" of snow in the last week alone. I was there the week before and there was already several feet of snow. Mammoth has said that they plan on keeping their ski slopes open through July 4th at least, they haven't done that in years.

So this weekend I put new shocks on the rear and new strut assemblies on the front, now I'm a little nervous that I may have done them wrong. I ordered Monroe strut assemblies for the front, they were marked left side and right side on the box. I installed the left side first and after I installed the right side I noticed the part number etched on the shock indicated it was L (left side). The boxes were clearly marked left and right and the left assembly had a yellow L sticker while the right side did not. Did I royally screw up? Im sure I couldn't return the assembly assuming that they sent out the wrong one. Any thoughts?

Yea I know for sure that I put the left side on the driver side, but I'm afraid I may have two left side struts

Off the top of my head.Wouldnt your sway bar end link or your brake hose bracket be in the wrong spot?

Oh ok no problem, I will say it fits fine but I'm sure there is a reason they have a left and a right side but I'm not sure what the differences are.

Drove it a few hundred miles this weekend to Yellowstone and back with no issues. So think I'm okay for now. Will keep an eye on the oil level.

Not always. Though it's not due to the axle so much as it is the backing plate being a bit fused to the axle. Give it a whack with a rubber mallet or two. Even a pry bar can be used to pop it off I think there's a notch for that...or I'm thinking if something else

I would put fresh oil in if it's the same shit from the overheat. It breaks down rapidly in those conditions and becomes more varnish than lubricant

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
5vz-fe starter torque spec. Anyone know it?

(Edit) nevermind. There's no f'n way you're going to get an accurate torque on those bolts... Which is probably why I can't find it

    Holy shit man. That rake.

Reminds me of when I had a 3” Lift in the back, and 0” in the front.
