I guess that is another possibility, the flange slipping on the splines. If I'm bored I'll crack it open and check things out someday.

Put a tcase in from a 95 and it solved my problem. There is an additional sensor on mine that needed swapped and I swapped the other sensor as the 95 had a different plug. Speed sensors need to be swapped as well. Pretty straight forward swap.

$10k. It's a prerunner. If it is due for a timing belt replacement (recommended interval is 90k) then $8k.

Does the fact that it's a prerunner make the price go up or down? I would assume down. It was taken care of very well, but now a new driving teenager will be driving it until I buy it so there's no telling what shape it'll be in once I can get it. I was thinking more along the lines of $5k by then.

That's what I figured. The $10k number kind of threw me at first since the KBB value right now shows $4-6k.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHA KBB !!! HAHAHHAHAHHAA. KBB means NOTHING for Tacomas, 4Runners, Lexus GX470, Land Cruiser FJ80/LC100/200 and other similar vehicles.

Two-wheel drive does drop the value some, but the Prerunner (TRD with rear differential locker) is still a very worth truck in SoCal.

    Does it have a Supercharger, @aggietaco ?

Yeah I only have experience buying my previous Taco and current tundra new, so just trying to figure it out. Don't want to pay out the ass, but not going to screw them over. I'm in Texas so 2wd trucks are definitely lowered in value. No supercharger or any upgrades at all. Completely bone stock. It has 150k miles and not 100k like I previously thought. It'll definitely need big maintenance and new exhaust system with the amount of rust I saw on it.

Yeah when I went to buy my 04 a few years ago they had it listed for $20k (24k miles) and KBB showed it around $14k or something like that. I tried showing that to the salesman and they flat out told me no way, we'll work with you a tad but if you expect KBB value you're welcome to walk. KBB really means nothing with these trucks in most markets especially in socal.

Yeah very true. I'm thinking it'll be lower priced though since it's a family truck and I won't have to mess with any dealership bullshit.

That is, unless you are trying to trade your vehicle in, then the dealerships will hardly budge going beyond the KBB value, regardless of the vehicle.

The condition of the frame will affect the price a lot! It's unusual to see rust on other parts of the truck and the frame to be 100%. Have you inspected the frame? If the frame is compromised even a little by rust, the price drops drastically.

I didn’t get a look at the frame unfortunately. The muffler was almost rusted through though

The frame should be the ONLY thing you look at. Truck could be the cleanest taco on the planet, but it isn't worth shit if the frame is bad.

Been hibernating all winter! Haven’t been up on here for a minute. Back in the game though and we built spare tire carrier Over the weekend for my ALL POO rear bumper. Still some things to add but it worked out pretty good overall :) DA853FF5-8999-48E2-B981-D584745A5BB8.jpgD2DD4761-54CC-4217-9129-E1C3BD3B97AA.jpg

Replaced the door handle and the plastic vapor barrier on the drivers side door. Previous owner (or someone he took the truck to) ripped open the plastic and left it hanging. The black adhesive was sticking to the window every time I rolled it down...
