Mine needs 5 volts. Id have to hide a 12v socket and the converter for the camera behind the dash if I was gonna do that.

My sony radio will display the voltage if I set it to.

Just a near gadget I guess.

Sometimes it’s worth it. I bought about $80 in tools after I realized my axle housing I was using was a non abs one so getting the first retaining ring and abs ring off was a pain in the dick. And I had to fab shit to press the stuff back on.

Installing my Wilco Tiregate on my day off (Wednesday), and all because Jake from Wilco came through with some new parts!

    20190819_205128.jpg

Took awhile due to the fact that they had to dig through their old archives (an old binder) since my tiregate has long been discontinued.

    Great customer service.

Post some pics when it's on, curious to know what it will look like since I believe the custom one I'm getting is going to be very similar.

I asked the dude that's making mine if he thought I should reinforce the bedsides like the 2nd/3rd gen guys do, but he didn't think it was necessary with the 1st gen beds. If it feels like it needs it though after install he can fabricate some brackets up

You should be good. I've been running that combination of extended IFP kings with 700# coils for nearly 70K miles. And I carry a lot of weight. Never a hint of sag from the king coils.

    Roger that.

Using state of the art technology, running software that will be shortly released after government contracts expire (in case DoD decides to renew), I've run a super high speed, low drag, simulated drawing of how the tiregate mounts up -

Our 1st gen beds are metal right? Versus the composite beds on later generations

Even still, with a 60lb tire and the weight of the tiregate hanging off the rear of the bed I'd be a little worried about over stressing it when flexing and bouncing the truck around offroad. I'll likely look into the reinforcements

I can't close my tailgate without pulling the sides together. Gussets in the bed corners would be helpful. Different loading than your carrier though.

Ever since I put my bed rack on I can't shut mine without pulling the handle lol. It's like it tweaked it just ever so slightly.

Just got my transmission and transfer case back. Rebuilt and looking pretty. Hopefully I can get my clutch swapped out and install this bad boy, by the end of the week.

I thinks it’s more for a diagnostic purpose, some cars came with a voltage gauge in the instrument cluster stock. It’s pretty low and if you have a usb in the upper port you can’t even see it.

Mines from the topper pushing out. Gussets on that would help too.

Lookouts - little did we know at this moment - would be the highlight of the day, helping to break up the long trail, and providing surprises that we'd never imagine. From it's colorful start to it's thundering end, our time on the Macgruder was a day to remember, for sure!

Why kings to hold you over for a rebuild? Why not go with stupid cheap billies or something? Seems silly to spend king premiums for something that will sit on the shelf during rebuilds. Or are you going to try to resell after?

    Just smells waaaaaay worse.

I kept my 5100s and 881s for that reason, just to have on hand for when my Kings get rebuilt. I have a TW member local to me that rebuilt an older pair of SAW's for me in less than 2 days so I'll probably just keep my truck on jack stands and not even bother swapping in the 5100s. Rebuilds are quick and easy if you keep it local (or DIY) and don't have to ship them out.
