Much less often when they're not 15 +yrs old. I don't even do the boot slide on mine, the boots aren't soft, and I think pulling on them just adds stress.

They wear at that point but breaks are almost always in a valley. That contact point on a high spot is pretty low friction, they don't slide against each other, they rotate almost like two tires rotating against each other.

Has list of parts and tools (with links) you need for the job. It's reasonably easy to do, and just requires a bit of patience.

Replaced my Header and Cat today.
Sounds so much better and has a bit better low end power.
My was not gonna hold on for much longer.

Factory Toyota header. It's a 2001+ 3rz header to replace the pre 01 cast style. Also known as the mini header swap.

Hard to beat a bolt in factory upgrade! Cheaper than aftermarket too.

Fo sho, very valid option for anyone needing/looking to replace the manifold, it'll be the way I go if/whenever needed
And I know it's way unpopular here but I'm a big fan of inline engines. And this 3RZ is no exception, awesome engine. Almost any Toyota engine is great. So I don't mind a couple little bolt-on mods that won't compromise long term reliability or that won't need maintenance more frequently than the original. This falls right into the type of 'mods' I would do.
So I meant it dude. Thanks man. It sounds crazy but somehow I've never noticed this 'mod' ever mentioned in the 5 years I've been on here. I'm sure it has been talked about. I just hadn't noticed:D

It's an awesome "mod" there's a bunch of info out there if you search "3rz mini header swap" or 3rz cracked header will also bring it up on Google.

Not knocking your choice but I definitely noticed a difference when I got rid of the factory manifold on my 04 and put the LCE header on. More power is rarely cheap.

Oh for sure, I don't think this adds any power but I think it improves the drivability in the sub 3000rpm range. I think depending on the route I go its either going to be a built motor or a turbo for a bit more power.
