Well there will never be a 2.5 kit. Unless you custom make one and CV axles to go with it.

And the likely hood of Marlin ever actually selling the RCLT kit is so damn low anyways much less developing one for our gen it's not worth waiting around for.

 

Added extra indicator lights into the cluster. So I don't accidentally roll around with the front off road lights and aux. backup light on unintentionally.

Don't want to respark the bed tiedown debate but what's everyone's thoughts on picking the bed up by them? Think they can handle the weight?

 

Sure can! Looks something like this once you get the cluster and the cover seperated. The wiring is easy enough, just wire to the switched side of your circuit.

Try them at about 26 to 28 psi on the street. I run 26 with my Toyo Open Countrys E rated and they ride and wear the best at 26 for me. Offroad I'll air down to 11 to 15 psi.

 

Welded in the trailgear frame box plates, and the reinforcement plates on the outside of the frame. I cut the gas tank cross member out, cleaned it up, cut plate to fit that location, and welded it back in. Added the two crossmember tubes from trailgear, but left my shocks in the stock location. Burned 14lbs of 0.035 hardwire and a full 110ft3 bottle of C25. Also welded the body mounts in the proper location for the double cab. Should be able to pull the cab from the rotten frame and place it on the good one by next weekend. And now I wait on parts!!

 

Beds are remarkably light weight. They should work with no trouble.

 

No problem. Just did it.

 

I used a crane hoist to carry a bed at Pick-n-Pull with only 2 bed tiedowns and my tools sitting inside.

 

I must have missed this debate, was it that guy from California that knows everything saying they wouldn't support the weight of the bed?

 

It's another member that is absolutely obsessed with talking about the subject of rust and our Tacoma's.

He had a hell of a time replacing his tie downs and even asked about getting them anodized, powder coated, etc.

Definitely not from CA

 

If you were near me I'd fix it for you for free, I couldn't let that go lol

 

Yesterday I installed some Sport bucket seats into my Mom's 02 regular cab!

Her's is the white one.. here was her old bench removed, getting ready to clean up everything while the seats were out to spruce up the new home for the Sport seats on stand by. Mine is the silver one that already has the Srunner seats installed.


The seats were all restored best I could, and looking beautiful for almost 20 year old originals!


Drilled holes for the new rear inside mounting points using the template left behind from the factory and a 1/2" drill bit.


Cleaned up under the carpet and trim panels since there was some gunk left from spills over the decades.


After detailing the full interior, I was able to get the seats installed and they felt sooo nice compared to her old bench. Now she can also raise herself up a bit as she had told me she wished she could do in her truck a while back!

Then I added some Lexus IS250 wheels just like the ones on my truck that had the centers bored to fit over the front hub while keeping the Lexus center caps. I had bought two sets since I was searching to find a cleaner wheel or two without scratches for my truck and a super clean set with tires popped up for too cheap to pass up. I figure what better way to repurpose these than for good old Mom's truck!

It was late by the time I finished so excuse the dark photos, but I was excited to see my Mom's truck looking so good and right next to my own..


Yeahp, both trucks have the same seats and wheels now.. and a test drive put a huge smile on my face with the added comfort and improved ride and handling - it's like a new Sports truck now!


Tonight will be the unveiling and maiden test ride with Mom, hope she loves her early Mothers Day gift of the Tacoma World variety as much as I do!!
