I'm guessing the truck didn't roll off a cliff and end its misery?

It was awfully tempting. Second hinge broke on the GFC literally as I was closing it to leave.

So I said fuck it and pulled all the panels.

Got to camp night one, leveled the truck, pulled the ebrake - snap. Really? :annoyed:

Oh, and the vibe at 75+mph I thought I fixed by swapping in my spare driveshaft and a new carrier bearing is still there.

Other than that, it did great.

My rusty power steering lines finally caught up with me today.

I bought new lines last spring, knowing this would eventually happen. But removing the old ones was not as easy as I had hoped, so I put it off for later. Turns out later is going to be the middle of July in my driveway. :bananadead:

Got my ultrahook on and washed my synthetic winch line while I had it out.

A good thing to always do. Go back and change/check previous work. Also gathering ideas from everyone when I find a ext cab 2.7 2wd or 4wd

My entire ebrake system has given me nothing but issues since day one, slowly been working on a transfer case mounted design, could be an option for you too with your skills.

I've heard those are a pain in their own right.

I've got my ebrake setup working pretty well lately. I've got all sorts of little extension brackets on the axle, drums, etc. The cable just broke right under the dash.

I went ahead and ordered an OEM one for $60 shipped as it's not hardly worth my time to dick around with the cheaper one.

I replaced mine and it wasn't too bad. This video helped a lot. I know it says it's for an 89-95 Toyota pickup, but my 2000 Tacoma was the same as the one in the video.

Picked up some takeoff wheels + tires from a 2020 for less than the cost of new tires. They look great on the red 1st gen.
