Brown santa brought me a box of bolts today, should be all the ones I need to reassemble the back half of my truck. A lot of progress considering I spent the evening drinking and playing trivia on zoom

Yeah, I don’t think that really bothers me. Plus I’ve never had a 2.5 shock, so out of sight out of mind haha

 

The whin came on slow last summer I top it off and added stabilizer to it and it went away. Its back now not so bad yet . Leeds me to thinks it’s the filter/screen thing. Full Monty Away

 

Replaced my stock windshield sprayers with ones off of a Honda Odyssey today! Best upgrade Ive done in a while. Bye bye laser beams

 

Check the 4wd and make sure the actuator is still working. They tend to fail if not used.

 

Went into 4 low, or atleast it felt like it did when I tried it out.

It was maintained at a high end Toyota/Lexus specialist shop so I was pretty confident about the purchase, that’s where we met and I checked it out.

 

It's not a "filter" it's a strainer.

It can be rinsed and re-used. The only reason you wouldn't be able to re-use it is if it has damage, In which case you have bigger problems than what replacing the strainer will fix.

 

CEL free was very short lived. Throwing the dreaded p0420 code.

Guess redoing the exhaust is next on the list. It really will be a new truck at this rate...

 

That code is a huge pain in the ass if you live somewhere with emissions testing. If not, you can usually get by with that code for a long time just coming and going. But if you intend on replacing the entire exhaust eventually that should take care of it. Might just need a crack fixed though or more likely a bad cat.

 

Luckily my state doesn’t require emissions. But it’s still a nuisance to see the light. Honestly, I’m not surprised. Between the rust and exhaust leaks, it needed to be done anyway. I’m thinking magnaflow cats. Seems people have had some pretty good luck with them.

 

Yeah when I got the intermittent P0420 I needed to replace the front cat, ended up just replacing front and rear with Magnaflows. That was almost 4 years ago now and they are still going strong. Way cheaper than OEM and probably won't last as long, but it's hard to bite the bullet on the price of OEM cats. Especially if you don't need them in your state.

Any word on replacing bushings from Solo? Was planned on throwing on some Cam Eliminator Plates and figured I'd replace the bushings while down there.

 

I just got new ones. They should be able to send you some if you want, just give them a ring.

Though if your doing solid lower mounts(which i assume means you have heim adjustable uppers now) then I'd look at getting some Derlin bushings.

 

Price? Get them to you pretty quick?

What Delrin bushings are you speaking of? I've got uniball uppers, bushing sleeves on the ends though.

 

And another question. Ever consider adding a zertz insert?

 

I'm going to add zerks next time I pull them out. I messed up by not adding them from the start, but didn't want to drill into my brand new arms. IMO, they really should come with them.

Haven't messed with replacing the bushings yet.

 

Are they stainless? If so, do they still decent and not rusted?

Delrin is WAY harder than Poly is all. If you solid mount the lowers then you want to eliminate play in the bushings. This is because the bolts will just be straight, they don't need to twist bushings as the alignment will be done with the Uppers.


You can NOT solid mount the lower without a heim upper adjustable UCA. As in the mounts are heim joints that screw in and out. This is because if you solid mount the lowers and use a standard UCA you have literally not way to adjust for an alignment.

So no Heim UCAs, No solid lowers.

@austinmtb is going through this process now. This is also a very popular mod on 2nd gens more so than 1sts. He is making his own UCAs I think and he got Derlin bushings from somewhere for his Solos.


Solo is way understaffed right now. but they are busting ass as best they can. It took a while but they go to it. Think Carl told me they were operating at 25% staff...

YES! it is one of my biggest complaints. my LT kit LCAs have them. Not sure why these don't. I was planning on doing it but I ran out of time and just had to get it back together. The thickness of the wall for the mounts though is HUGE. Like twice as thick as my LT kit ones. So maybe a zert won't clear.

 

Mine are permanently covered in cooked on dirt lol. Rust isn't really an issue where I'm at
