I wasn't satisfied with the inner bands on my tie rod end boots after I replaced the tie rods. I attempted to reuse the originals, but they didn't seem to tighten back as well, as I didn't have the proper tool to crimp them. Looking for an alternative, I purchased stainless steel zip ties in 16 inch length. Put them on, using the tightening tool that I purchased, but still didn't seem to be a good fit. YouTube provided a better way to tighten them for this application. Get them in position, as tight as you can by hand, then clip off the long tail, leaving about a half inch. Grab that tail with needle nose pliers, and roll it up. It tightens the band much more, and then the end isn't able to go back toward the clamping portion.

We took a little jaunt up around northern NM.
I also put 1/4" spacers on top of the front coilovers. A crack has developed in the pass side perch, the end of the spring is positioned directly under the crack so maybe that contributed but I don't think it can go anywhere else with that steel spacer sandwiched in there

yeah something is not right about your coilovers. There should never be that large of gap. It looks like there is like a plate or something where it shouldn't be.

That rubber isolator pad needs to be flush with coil bucket and the top of the coilover.

And those bolts should be way further out the top of the coil bucket.

I mean, that’s where that type of spacer goes, he just needs longer studs. I feel like the shape of the spacer doesn’t help with the stress in the coil bucket.

Looks like the spacer is triangle shaped with round corners?? Gives a weird optical illusion.

    Looks possibly homemade?

Definitely going to put a lot more pressure and leverage on those spots with that setup. Would not run.

I've done a mod or two
I think there's washers on top that's making it not sit on the spacer directly/

    Is the spacer broke too?

    @Mischief
If you decide to fix the coil bucket, I don’t know what everyone decided the best way to do it is, and still want to run the spacer, I’d look into the OME trim packer thing. I think it’s basically the same thing. But better

I believe its a triangular shape and thats some sort of casting mark, definitely needs more surface area imo and those studs are way too short

uh, may want to think again.

So you push your 1st gen offroad - what cracks next?

And your studs are way too short for those spacers, you have about half the thread engagement needed for those to torque correctly.

    Did you guys miss this?

The studs/nuts are fully engaged and I think it would need to crack the steel spacer to get worse so I'll prolly just watch it and see what happens. The crack wasn't there a year ago when those springs were installed. If I have to weld it I will.
The taco pulls the trailer pretty well as long as I keep it in the power band, we don't go very fast
