What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Tried a new one. Reads the same as the old. I was hoping it would be that easy.

 

Do you happen to have a link or the name of the company? I just picked up parts for a ADD 4WD conversion on my 02 prerunner and that relay setup sounds like a great solution if its easier than using the factory wiring harness.

Depends how close to oem you want it but it shouldn't be too terrible to do yourself. Just need a momentary switch and relay for one direction of current and another for the reverse. Wire an indicator light in so you know when the actuator is engaged/disengaged. It won't automatically actuate when you put it in 4x4 with the shifter but you'll have 2lo if you want it.

 

I really think that anybody who reccomends manual hubs has never had to chip the ice off of them while in the middle of a snowstorm. Screw that.

Not hating on it, but if someone rear ends you with a good amount of speed theres a large chance that thing is gonna fly forward towards the back of someones head.

Anyone running a fire extinguisher on there swing out? Being in CA I feel an urge to have one easily reached at any time. Do they make any that can handle being outside or should I look to mount inside the shell?

I agree trying to be better and get myself setup, only reason I was thinking swing out was “faster to get”.

 

How hard is it to pull a 3.4? Only are the wiring long enough to raise it 8-10 inches?

 

Added a rack to my already high topper. This was just a fitting pic before I put sealant and bolted the final fittings on. I also built a deck in the bed with drawers and plan to take her out next weekend.

 

You can get 10 inches if you remove the ecu plugs and pull them through the firewall no issue

 

You can pull the whole wiring snake out of the firewall in about 5mins. Makes it lift pretty high.

 

Thanks for the info. I pulled everything from a wrecked tacoma and plan to make it as OEM as possible. The wiring harness looks like a pita and would seriously consider an aftermarket alternative if it made the conversion easier.
