Yep I’m pretty sure it’s the pump. Drove it down to the culdesac and backed in the driveway, power steering is gone.

Don’t replace it, rebuild it instead. It's pretty easy to rebuild.

    Get this rebuild kit: https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem...ion=vane-pump-reservoir-power-steering,,04446

This thread, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/power-steering-pump-rebuild-how-to-with-photos.377002/ will show you how to do it. That thread is for a 4-cylinder pump, but it will show you enough to get it done. The 6-cylinder pump is actually easier because it doesn't have a bearing.

It’s really easy to do to, definitely wouldn’t have someone do it if you have a garage or warm place to work

Sold our house recently so we’re between houses with no garage but luckily the truck isn’t a daily driver. Once I have a garage again I’m gonna tear into it.

Well what was supposed to be a simple project became a repair.

This isn't supposed to happen when you try and remove the intake tube.

    IMG_20201220_130130.jpg

Looks like it had split long ago and the PO had used electrical tape to keep it together..

    IMG_20201220_130239.jpg
    IMG_20201220_130235.jpg

But I guess at 300k plus it's bound to happen.

Anyone ever replace their intake tube with good results? Other than the air raid I guess?

I'm a 4cyl, but I got one of those silicone intake fernco things from local auto parts store to replace the cracked one on mine.

Although turned from red to pink in a few days for whatever reason....

Gave the truck a coating of some sheep grease and adjusted my parking brake intermediate lever. The front cable didn't have enough tension on it to reliably pull the lever back and engage the switch, so the light would come up randomly while driving. When adjusted properly, should the brake lever pull itself back when twisted down? Or do you still have to push the brake lever a bit? Not sure how much tension is supposed to be on this cable.

my parking brake does the same thing. The light is always coming on but when I push the lever down the light goes away. And I know it’s not fluid level.

Mine does that when it gets really loose. There's an adjustment nut on the ebrake bracket alongside the trucks frame behind where the driver is.

Here's a write up on it

2.7 or 3.4? Same happened on my 2.7. I’ve got a pretty knew one I’d sell you if you need it. I ended up making a custom one from a volant intake.

I was having poor brake performance in the rear so I flushed the fluid. I’m a little embarrassed at the results. I can’t believe I let it get that bad.

I did get this handy bottle with a check valve from Amazon that made it easy to do on my own.
