I was having horrible braking power in the rear, to the point you could push my truck with the ebrake on, and my buddy showed me how to adjust the rear brakes and it stops like 100x better.

So this should have been an hour job at the most,
The Amsoil oil bags made this a super clean easy job, just pours in as you tip the bag upside down.
I ended using the used Amsoil bag and filled them up with the redline and was so simple.
Bye bye hand pumping the oil into the diffs and transmission.
    Rear differential was easy,
    Transmission was easy
    Tcase was easy,
Then we had that lower front drain bolt.
    It would not budge,
    Heat didn’t work,
Pounding on it with a hammer for shock didn’t work,
Used a 1/2” drive with the Allen key type head, didn’t work,
    It stripped it completely,
Then tried a 55 torque bit and that stripped it even more.
Tried drilling into it to use a reverse threaded nut removal tool.
    That didn’t work either.

What ended up working was a large chisel that I used to cut into the drain plug
and then used the other side that I grinded flat to use as an impact and a 5 pound hammer.

WHY WHY would toyota use an Allen type insert key for this plug.

Lexus makes the exact same drain plug with a bolt style head,

The top plug on my truck is a different size than the drain plug.
I think some are the same size top and bottom depending on the year
Order a Lexus lower drain plug and don’t spend hours trying to remove the old stock drain plug.

Here's the parts list. I spent about $520, but I ended up having to replace the tank strap and filler neck hose. The Spectra tank also comes with gaskets, so you don't have to buy the Toyota set unless you prefer OEM.

Spectra T031C Gas Tank, Rockauto, $260
Denso 951-0001 Fuel Pump, Rockauto, $74
Bosch 68021 Fuel Pump Strainer, Rockuauto, $8 (couldn't find the Denso)
Spectra FNH137 Filler Neck Hose, Rockauto, $14 (Couldn't pull the old one off, so cut and bought new)
Fuel Tank Strap, Spectra ST318, Rockauto, $54 (mine was rusted and I bent it badly trying to remove one of the clevis pins)

Gasket, Sending Unit 77169-04010, McGeorge Toyota, $8
Gasket, Check Valve 77177-33010, McGeorge, $10
Gasket, Breather Valve 77176-26011, McGeorge, $2

Fuel Line for Evap System/Charcoal Canister, $24 (you'll need 1/4, 3/8 and 5/16 ID fuel line, it runs about $2/ft)
Big Evap Hose 77701-04010, Toyota of Louisville, $39
Evap Hose with different end sizes, 77259-04020, Toyota of Louisville, $27

These are the only two hoses I wasn't able to replace with generic fuel line:

4 quarts redline MT90 were for the transmission and Tcase,
4 quarts of Amsoil sever gear for the front and rear differential,

The front crush washers are different than the transmission and Tcase and rear differential.

You will need 8 crush washers total

And at least one Lexus drain plug with the nut style headi

How did you mount that roof basket? I came across a basket that is a perfect fit for my Tacoma, same as yours, but I have no rails.

I bought an 01 T4R transmission for the conversion. Anyone know how I can verify it's from an 01? Need to make sure because it needs to have the electronic valve body, the guy I bought it off of just had it sitting in his shed. 20201219_164209.jpg 20201219_174904.jpg

Edit: I've read thread but is there any way to tell w/o opening the transmission?

The PO on my truck did the same thing.

I got a tube off Amazon, $30 and done. Super easy repair.
