I find it odd that your flag proudly displays an animal which no longer exists in your state in the wild. No disrespect, just odd.

There are actually a lot of black bears in CA. Not as much in the south, but lots in the North. No disrespect.

If you look at the bear, it has a dished face, small rounded ears and a hump on its back. It's a grizzly bear. I see a lot of bears (and eat some of them too). In color, your flag has the bear in brown, reinforcing my perspective. I know you have black bears, so do we. We have griz in abundance too.

I guess I've got to start this very soon....
Started the Viair Ultra Duty Air Compressor install today. It was a tight fit but I made it work. It came out pretty clean but I opted out of completing the install so I could order some "push-to-connect" fittings instead of the compression fittings. Amazon says a couple days since the local hardware stores didn't stock them. Planning to, for now, run air tools, air horn and use to air up the tires. Future would be for some air lockers as well.

Automotive electronics, on the other hand... :notsure:

This website is like going to the bar with your buddies. Sometimes you get slapped in the face, kicked in the nuts and made fun of. Other times you're the man, and can strut a little. But whether you're dazzled by someone's brilliance or baffled by their bullshit, you'll always be entertained and (if you pay attention) you're going to learn something.

I sure wish mine looked this clean for when I install mine. Unfortunately I went and played yesterday at a local spot which has LOTS of mud, and I'm adding an AAL tomorrow. Should be a bit sticky under there.

Spent some time swapping the entune unit for a Pioneer 4100-NEX android auto unit.

Went mostly OK - Pioneer has a super aggravating parking brake lockout which doesn't agree with the parking brake signal on the harness, so it decided I couldn't configure half the system. $15 on Amazon for a module to spoof the parking brake and I was back in business. Worth it to not deal with fishing a line through the dash to the brake, plus less irritating in the future, I suppose.

Steering wheel controls *mostly* work; little disappointed in the decoder unit that came with the harness from crutchfield, volume and mute and track skip work, but not the phone buttons or the left-right skip. Oh well. Probably dig into that more in the future. Wiring harness was a pain in the ass.

So far the android auto functionality is very nice, not having nav etc on the entune it's a solid upgrade. Lost satellite, didn't care since I didn't listen to it anyhow.

Dash kit from crutchfield is nice. Matte instead of gloss, fits well.

Wiring looks a little messy to me. I did the relay method for my Pioneer, so I didn't have to worry about the parking brake. JVCs are even easier since all you need to do is ground out the wire responsible for that.

Thank you TheRenegade and to all the likes. It took me about 5 hours. The hardest/longest part is taking the headlights off the Taco. I preheat the oven to 300*, turned it off, place a cardboard on top of the oven grill, then the headlights for 5-8 minutes, then pull apart.

Once it was done going together it was fairly organized, lots of cross-connecting between parts of the harness adapter unfortunately. Most of the mess was in the converter harness for the toyota stuff.

From doing some research, it seems like they "fixed" the relay method with this rev of the head unit and its's even more sensitive, the hacks for the 4000 and previous series w/ a relay don't work anymore. It's still functionally the same in the end, but it needs to send multiple pulses and it needs to have a delay, now. Extra annoying.

I'm tempted to order another bypass module and rip it apart and see what's going on inside, I'm virtually positive it's just a little 8bit micro at this point.
