‘racking’ is the domino effect mentioned. A diagonal brace, corner triangles, corner braces, or a whole sheet on the back will stabilize it.

your current build is all pieces at right angles, or....

a bunch of pivots with little or no ‘lateral’ rigidity.

Could also put a gusset in each corner if it's racking. Not sure what the wood working term is.

gotcha. Will take a look to see what I can do. I had that with one of the middle parts for the rack but 2 screws per corner fixed it. I may just use a piece of plywood since I have to buy a whole sheet anyhow. I do like the corner idea suggested, I have a spot I could incorporate that without it being in way of bottles.

progress update: 1st one is done short of anchoring the middle pieces to my frame. Want to stain it all first and leave my front frame to stain last. Thoughts on using wood filler of some sort over my countersunk screws? I used the countersunk but on em all but torn on how filling and staining will look.

depending on how deeply you countersunk them, you could pick up a plug cutter for not much $

    2E08E892-32C9-48B1-918A-B86E2DA01FF4.jpg

Goes in a regular drill. Inside diameter of the cutter should be the diameter of the screw head. Cut a bunch of plugs from your scrap, glue them in the holes, saw of the part sticking out, sand, finish.

    Or

make some filler from leftover sawdust and wood glue (‘bout like peanut butter)

    or

‘antique’ the screw heads with some vinegar overnight then finish

Most are just barely under the surface. I like the “peanut butter” idea honestly.

more sawdust, less glue, otherwise the sanding is difficult/messy. push ‘in’, don’t ‘smear’

popscicle stick and paper cup for mixing

Oh God it's... long lol. Unless you buy molds that is, then it's just mixing epoxy resin in whatever different ways and piping or pouring them in.

Cosplay prop for a friend. My first version had no trigger action, no effects and few metal parts. This one is better, but I would still like to add more effects and details to it.

Almost there. Got a couple backing pieces set aside drying from the stain. This was built out of the cheap wood from HD. It’s going into a closet so not going for 100% perfection but not too shabby for a first attempt.

last thing is to get it into the closet and rig up my top. Probably glue together a couple pieces of the plywood and rig up a way to remove it easily down the road to get it back out of the closet. Top will be for the random liquor bottles we have accumulated over the years (I’m a rum fan and tend to get a local bottle from other countries when traveling).
