He is a fairly gifted machinist. He got to do this piece at his last shop while he was still in school a couple of years ago; it matches a cross tattoo he has as well as a necklace given to him, so it's a piece of symbolism he rather likes. It'll be refreshing to have a little something else on the wall. I paint so my paintings are all over, and we have a game room full of some fun doodads but nothing he's made yet. Tired of everywhere I live being my personal art gallery, haha.

I would think theres a stud in the middle of the space there. Home depot has these, run one into the stud in the middle of the space, drill it through the middle of the cross then put some silver paint on the head to make it less noticeable. Or they have dry wall anchors that hold up to 50lbs just get a longer cross tip screw the same diameter of the the one in the box and do the same, if no stud in the middle of the space.

...i use these a lot for hanging cabinets, woodwork, etc... it's a low-profile french cleat made of aluminum...

...how thick is the object, 1/4"?... if so, you could drill and tap into the back of it to attach to the clips using small machine screws, ..then use wood screws to attach the mating clips to the wall (stud, or use appropriate drywall anchors)

Still building the studio in the basement, but I finished my cross stitch after... 4 or 5 months? Just gave it to Hobby Lobby to get it framed today. While I was there of course I took advantage of the floral sale, I've been itching to make something so I made a wreath of all things I guess haha. I'll be selling that on my Etsy.

This window had some pretty nasty chipped paint on it from the previous owner, but I liked the idea of privacy, so I whipped up a faux stained glass design for our door. I'll probably refine it a bit and make it out of real stained glass one of these days.

How does one whip up faux stained glass? Looks like the real thing to me.

They sell stained glass paint at craft stores, but you can whip up your own using acrylic paint and elmer's glue. The latter would give you more control over texture and opacity but I intend on trying to make more of these and sell them on my Etsy so I bought the handy little paints. You make the texture however you want, whether it's swirling the paint around, using your finger, creating small bubbles, etc.

Another thing you want to keep in mind is how stained glass pieces are put together. That way your lines look like they could have been fluxed like the real thing.

I build paper models from time to time, though I have inadvertently taken a 7 year break. Got back into it this weekend with some models I printed a decade ago.

A Fiddlers Green bf-109 and a freeware Enterprise D (gift to a friend).

Picked up some rice lights and used up some extra paint to make a little lightbox. I like how it came out, I think I might make a LoZ themed one for our game room at some point. 'Til then, too girly for me, to Etsy it goes
