When you make something with posts like that you leave them long. Then you’ll use a line level to mark them all at once and cut them to the correct height.

Thanks, i need to recut the step stringer on the bottom to have 5 steps instead of 4. I wasn’t thinking when we cut it, and thats why i have those blocks on the bottom because that last step was about a 11 inch step instead of a 7 inch step. So i may recut them sometime in the next week or two, or maybe just pour me a concrete pad under it. Im going to get my driveway resurfaced in a couple years so ill need to make sure thats seperated anyways. So it may be a pad in the near future.

You might do better with the concrete pad. We built something like that at my grandfather’s place in Georgia, and surrounded it with gravel. He used the gravel to wipe his feet before getting on the step, then wiped his feet again on a big used tire mat he kept on the slab.

Man hated that red mud on his stairs - if it got remotely damp it became frictionless lubricant.

I ain't been in your neck of the woods for going on 20 years.

Still miss the pulled pork sandwiches and boiled peanut stands. Somewhere in NC is an Enterprise car rental attendant with PTSD from peanut shells.

If there's a web that says "SOME PIG" just ignore it and spray for bugs.

That spider is messing with your head.

I do have them! I have a whole separate storage bin for them! There’s 3 pair in there plus the ones on my feet.

I had half a dozen more... but, you know, that fire thing ate them.
