have you ever had them resharpened? I dont know if its worth it or if even possible...I still have the blade I changed out, it was cutting ok, but the edges were starting to rip out so I know it was getting dull.

From what I’ve read, based off the cost for sharpening carbide blades, these ones aren’t really worth it. They are basically decent quality disposable blades. You could do a diy sharpen but it’s almost 50-70% the cost of the blade to have a pro do it.

As long as you haven’t burnt the blade, a good pitch remover can make a big difference though.

Been planning on making one of these for myself for a while now. I collected enough shells, I told my shooting buddy I would make him one when I do. Next week is his birthday and I decided to make his first. Mine is gonna be full sized with the ends of the shells for the stars. His is just a mini version, so I didn’t want to short the stars.

Looks good. How did you attach the shotgun shells? Hot glue?

I used E6000 adhesive. I had 3 tubes from my old job. On mine I might switch to hot glue. May not have enough E6000 to do it all. I have some industrial hot glue laying around. Guess I’ll see how his holds up. Or maybe I’ll go with epoxy or maybe lay it in fiberglass resin?

Yea those Diablo blades are cheap, but they are all thin kerf blades and the table saw I have is a 9" saw which isn't common these days so Home Depot/Menards etc doesn't sell them in 9". I had to order my Freud Combination blade from Amazon.

I think the resin would be awesome AF, but I wouldn't make it my first resin project unless you had access to more shells in case it goes awry. Post pics if you get it done!

I’m a member of a gun club, and shoot at a few others. The white shells are the hardest to find. We just got a new store in town that sells the Federal red white and blue shells so we may now start seeing them more often. I have a whole bag full but the full sized flag uses about 350 shells total. I’ve used resin a bunch of times back when I worked at a car audio shop. Shouldn’t be any problems if I mix it right. That might actually be the way to go as it will also flow inside the shell to better bond it all together. However the added weight may be an issue.

Are you making a full sized one to hang on the wall or a table? The table weight wouldn't be an issue but hanging it on the wall would require a little extra... but otherwise.. I think it's a brilliant idea and can't wait to see it.

What is "full size"? Flags come in lots of sizes. Also, if you do the resin/epoxy, have you thought of putting holes in the side of the shell that is down, so you have glue all the way through the wall of the shell instead of just on the inside?

1/8 inch - it's a full kerf blade. This is what I used ion that last batch of cutting boards made of Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Purpleheart and Padauk ... cut right through it all

It’s kind of amazing the differences tooth count makes. Before getting into woodworking I always thought, the more teeth, the smoother the cut.

I did a little research before buying.. there are like 80 tooth blades out there.. but I don't see the point of them all. This blade has so far done everything I have needed it to do so I am ok with that, especially on a 45 year old saw!

I have about 7 blades, no dado so far. The 40 tooth are the ones that stay in the miter and table saw most times.

I haven't come across anything I've needed a dado blade for yet and between the 3 saws I just acquired, there must have been 50 blades with them. I haven't a use for any of the old ones due to the newer technology like in the Freud blade. I figured I would start my own collection of blades LOL
