Just discovered this thread.. was hoping there’d be something like this!

I work mostly digital these days...

This was a fun video to make and it only took a day:

I guess I never posted up the finished pet portrait; I also tried my hand at painting a house on some scrap watercolor paper I had. I got a little sloppy because I was trying to wrap it up at 2 am :help: what is sleep anyways? lol.

Sleep is when you’ve run out of things to keep you occupied/busy. :p

Figure I’ll throw this up. I’d like to do a second version with more depth of field.

I love the way you have the mods laid out; the whole thing has a really clean look. I bet people would pay for those

Yeah, sure. After they’re done breaking the bank on all their mods, come pay me to make a digital representation of it all! Hah! I kid.. thank you for the kind words.

Guess it depends on what you'd charge. I've been selling art for years and tried to sell Colored Pencil drawings of rigs on here in the past. A few nibbles but no sales, which is typical of anything I try to sell really. If anyone's ever asked for digital stuff from you, I'm sure you've had the same thing happen. OP paints AMAZING custom taco portraits in watercolor as well, he's had a few takers.
Either way, really creative way to showcase the mods. I always have trouble trying to explain what we've done to our truck to people because none of them are very visible mods; things like UCAs, suspension, intake modification, etc. We haven't gotten around to the big, expensive stuff yet. This would be a really good solution to that problem I think, and it makes for a good sig.

I was drawn to this forum through the OP’s other side-hustle forum where he was taking requests for paintings. It’s truly incredible work and I became an instant fan of his.

For me its not about how much money, but about how much time can I dedicate towards something like that. If you’re a hobbyist and looking to make money on the side for something you enjoy doing and willing to spend time on anyways, absolutely! But that graphic had me tethered to a computer for two solid days. For that I would charge somewhere in the range of $150-200 and I’m a little skeptical if people would pay that for a signature.

Although, I really appreciate you taking the time to consider a perspective of being able to showcase different modifications that are not readily visible from just a truck photo. Thank you for that! Sig art is definitely something I’d done in the past with online RP games. Usually just in exchange for the in-game currency, though. I’ll keep your words in mind if I ever find decide to set up shop here! :D

Just finished this one. I meant to give myself 2 hours but I let myself have 2 1/2 lol. I'm trying to learn to loosen up my style. Oils are my favorite because I can blend til the cows come home, but I'm really trying to challenge myself using gouache lately. That's also why I've been doing houses and cars; I feel much more comfortable with organic shapes, so I'm forcing myself to do more angled, technical stuff.
    This one is 5x5 inches

Sorry for all the art spam lately, I promise, I'm getting burnt out.
I had to put this one up because I'm actually pretty proud of how it came out.
The bottom is everything I've done the past 2 days.

Ah, building a house has been my dream since I was a kid and saw a Lowes for the first time, silly as that sounds (grew up in a really small rural community in BFE). We almost bought a plot of land 2 years ago, but I had to leave work following a botched surgery, so now I just paint to make our house feel a little more custom, haha. I still feel very lucky to have been able to buy a house at all on one income so. We had a really nice 8 acre lot picked out though, would have been pretty neato. Maybe someday; I miss working and I looove home improvement.

Good for you and sorry about your health my wife is going down slowly.
I’m starting to get burned out been working on 3 houses for last 5 years I think. Replumbed one to move into fixed and sold the one we lived in for almost 20 years but a few acres I had to mow twice a week was old and kids are long gone so we didn’t need it.
Now building barndominium here and once we can get into it have some work to do in main house.

Wow, that's a lot! Sorry to hear about the wife, my health is on the decline and it's really hard on my husband at times, but I'm hoping I can find something to do to make a little extra money so we can do... something haha. I bet once you get the house done though you won't know what to do with yourself! I know when I quit work I was at a loss for what to do next. That's how I ended up going for a free, super pointless associates degree I'm about to finish up, lol. It'll be nice though if you have hobbies that have been waiting for you; the freedom!

    Thanks
Maybe hook up with a builder or designer and do some mosaics which aren’t very common anymore?
