What have you turned off on your Tacoma?

Turned off? The snitchware.

Someone (Toyota? Their cellco?) was telling my insurance company that I am spending a lot of time visiting Mom in another state.

I disabled the head unit speed sensor so addresses can be entered while in motion.

What? How did this even come up? Did they send you a notice asking about yearly mileage? What insurance?

 

The adapted cruise makes you just as retarded as the guy in front of you.
Speed up slow down speed up slow down...annoying.
I have owned a ton of vehicles and the Tacoma cruise control mated with the auto is not the greatest. My truck is tuned which helps with gear hunting..but with this truck I don't use the cruise at all. Just doesn't work well.

I would love to hear about this! I turned mine off within hours of purchase. I always thought it could be accessed by others but wasn't sure. Figured no point in taking chances and the feature does nothing for me so I saw no downside to disabling it.

 

State Farm. Three sternly worded letters from a Dallas office insisting that I must reaffirm the address where the Taco is kept.

Agent had never seen anything like it before and was unable to get to the bottom of it.

my 2016 turns off and never comes back on by the time I get to the stop sign at the end of the street, is that a newer model feature that it doesn’t turn off?

My Tacoma is a 2014. I'll have to confirm whether it keeps chiming or gives up after a while. It's been a while since I drove off without buckling up first.

 

Lane Departure (I removed the bumpers, so no sensors anyway)
Bed Light
Wireless charging pad (actually tore it out so I could install a RAM ball mount for my GMRS radio's detachable LCD display in that position -- see pic).

 

Like others said want to hear more about this! I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but dang. What is it/how to turn it off?

 

Push the button in the vehicle and when somebody answers tell them this is not an emergency, and I want to opt out of all connected services. I never connected a phone to my truck or put any connected app on my phone so my Taco just disappeared. If you want to test if your truck is really disconnected just unhook the battery for a 1/2 hour or so.

If you are actually disconnected you will need to reset the clock. If the clock stays current you are still being tracked.

Toyota will send you this letter afterwards.

 

If you talk to a local tuner, they have the software to turn off the seatbelt chime and change some other things as well.
