I have regular Hologen headlights on my truck right now and they are good but I'd really like to upgrade to HIDs problem is I have no idea what I'm looking for or what I need I've talked to some people and I think I want to go with 6000k-8000k but I don't know what kind I need to but or anything so if you can tell me a good brand or maybe attach a link to headlights that would be great I have a 1999 tacoma 4x4

5000 is pure white and anything up from there is blue in color. Anything lower is yellow. I just ordered mine from ddm tuning and they are in the mail. Also be sure to get a high low option, not all the kits come with high beam.

Maybe not as obvious as people may think but going blue decreases the amount of visibility at night, blue sky. As your halogens are not as good in the morning commute because they are yellow.

Actually 4300k is pure white, but 5000k is really close.
OEM systems from the automakers are Philips or OSRAM 4300k burners.

And please do not go with "drop in" HID burners in your stock housings.
They are illegal, but more importantly, the glare they produce is dangerous and inconsiderate to other drivers.

CHP has really started clamping down on them out here in CA (thankfully, every time one of these idiots gets behind me I feel like getting out and taking a hammer to their stupid lights.. and I am not alone in that feeling)

Go with a proper projector retrofit, or stick with a halogen or one of the new LED H4 lamps.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Do a full retrofit. You can get everything you need from The Retrofit Source (TRS). Worth every penny.

And yes, 4300K is white. But I went with 6000K and am totally happy with the nighttime performance.
