I know it's been discussed/debated ad nauseum in other threads, but I found it interesting that the first page of that pdf about the engine said that the Fuel Octane Rating is 91 or higher.

It is what it is. Everything new will be electric soon enough. Just smile and think of that poor son of a bitch that bought a Tesla.....

My truck looks good, drives fine. I need it to take me to work every morning, get me home at night and get the groceries every Saturday.
I'll get a Jeep that I can thrash and not worry about.

I keep the thing on 91 Octane, put a CAI in and a performance exhaust on, keep in mind it's a 2017 Toyota and not a 1972 Ram Charger, and I am fine!

I think the consensus was it's RON 91, not AKI. Who knows.
I often hear the claim it is tuned for 87 and adjusts for 91. I'm inclined to believe the opposite.

We are talking about the same "society" or "consumers market" that requires that coffee cups have warning labels on them. Right? Yeah that's what I thought...Just checking.

Wifes 17 RAV4 has 2 buttons. Eco and sport. Third mode is normal. Double pressing either button gets you normal and one press gets you either sport or ECO. I feel like there really is no reason why the Taco couldn't have a similar setup. It also starts the next time in whatever mode you leave it in. The dials even change color!

No, but the sales girl I had did wave her fantastic booty in my face a couple times. I would have bought whatever she was selling.

I happen to like my truck so it worked out, but...

    Here is my theory
This complete post was of waste of my time reading through all the crap .
We have proven time and again there is a shift flair with these transmissions during a cold run and its not a programming problem , its strictly mechanical .
The shift flair is also noticeable with the A750E 2nd gen transmission when the transmission upshifts from 3rd gear to overdrive . The 2015 5 speed and the 2016 transmission are designed by the same contractor and hold the same issues even though the 2016 AC60E has one more gear .
Toyota is not going to fix the shift flair for the boys who own a 16/17 truck . This will be an aftermarket fix available to you all you 16/17 owners in the aftermarket and its gong to look like this
    http://www.sonnax.com/parts/3477-zip-kit
Take some of your time and read through what these aftermarket kits can fix . These transmissions are mass produced and they hold many factory designed flaws . Companies like Sonnax and Trans-go address the complaints you guys have . Toyota could care less about your complaints as long as your fuel mileage is good . With this said , you guys suffer the driveability issues on a day to day basis in order for Toyota to maintain there epa standard

Thank you @gearcruncher .... if/ when this becomes available, I will consider doing it. Doesn't even require special tools.
Had fun with my old 4L60e trans from GM when I had the opportunity to "enhance" it.

drove my truck on a 800km round trip weekend trip through some very high mountain roads. Kept a steady speed of 120km/h, just in D with cruise control on, no ECT. As mentioned it kept going from 4th to 3rd, then back to 4th, then 3rd. at some points, it even stayed in 3rd, pinned to 5500 RPM for a good 5-7 minutes. Shifts into 5th and 6th downhill.

On the way home, I used ECT with cruise control. drove a little better. constant shifting is annoying, but otherwise the truck was fantastic. I averaged 16.3L/100km...pretty good for climbing 1718m (5636.48ft) in elevation, on a 236km (146.6 miles) stretch of road

I also noticed it almost never goes into 6th on a flat freeway. Either I'm not going fast enough, or something's wrong...

As always gearcruncher thank you for chiming in with your expertise. Hopefully people will listen to your experience and wisdom. I have been able to set up multiple experiments to prove everything you have said. I also had an engineer from Japan verify a fluid leak down condition, and a bubble entrapment condition, in the valve body, when the fluid contracts. Unfortunately, some people will not believe something if it was right in front of their faces. However, I, and many others on TW, truly appreciate your research and contributions to TW.
