So my brain always works outside the box. Sometimes in it's own little box outside every one else's box. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad.

I bought an 06 X runner to repair several months ago. The right rear frame section needs to be replaced. I have another long bed regular cab that will be the donor. The rear cab corners of the Xrunner are pushed in from the bed, but the bed is pretty much done for. Those rear corners are repairable. I did buy another Xrunner bed so I'm set there.

I have the regular cab, but it has no title/parts only. And the bed of it is good but the front left corner of the body is pretty well done. Ironicly, the frame had little damage, as in only the body mount was ripped off. Nothing that couldn't easily be fabbed up.

I also have a prerunner with the short bed. This truck is going to be my "truck" and is not pretty. It has damage but the drivetrain is solid. The bed is in pretty good shape. I'm not opposed to putting a flat bed on it.

So here's where my mind wonders to:

Drop X runner drivetrain, electrical, etc etc into a regular cab(not mine, another), shorten frame, and install short bed. This creates a super short wheelbase for cornering and lightens the truck to the smallest common denominator without going crazy. A stock X runner is about 3800 lbs, I figure this change would drop about 300 lbs.

Note: at this point there would be no x runner body kit which I'm not that fond of anyhow.

Next lower to the max with all the common methods. A arms, spindles, springs, blocks, whatever.

Remember that box I mentioned earlier? Yeah, put on fiberglass prerunner fenders front and rear. Then run large...like 20 or 22" race style wheels with some real tire meat..not rubber bands.

Finish off with 2012 and up front end, some eyelids. Paint black or whatever. If I have any money left over I might add a TRD supercharger.

And really the only thing holding me back is not whether I have the money, it's that I already have one unfinished project thats very close, my classic oldsmobile that needs a little attention, and the fact that the Tacoma would just be a money pit I would never get my money out of. And jeez, it's just me. How many miles do I drive anyhow to get any use out of all my vehicles? Damn responsibility.

    Hey...anybody real good at photoshop?
