I still don't know where it says anything about street racing, but race him on the track and see where you need to improve. Is your truck an auto? Check out URD they have some things that can add performance without supercharging. Most likely won't be able to pass smog since you live in California though.

plus some light weight race wheels and good set of track tires so you get good traction when you launch off the line (AT THE TRACK!)

But don't let his stupidity be your mistake, and convince you to street race. It's illegal and dangerous, so it's not worth it.

There is a guy here in AZ that has a 0-60 in 4 sec taco, search for the thread in this section and you can see the vid plus what his mods are.

when, your sitting at the light, watch the cross traffic light cuz when it turns yellow, that means yours is about to turn green. so that way you'll be ready and get off the line faster.

just kidding, we know your not talking about street racing. the track is the only place to settle it.

putting some premium gas in the tank wouldn't hurt either

and yes putting in premium can actually do more harm than good, this topic has been beaten to death a couple days ago. Only need to do higher octane to avoid pre-detonation it's wont magically make your truck go faster or run better.
