Just to put my two cents in if you're serious...I have a '17, only 5k miles but not a single problem or complaint.

Well now, there's certainly some advice in here...

Much more interesting to read than sales brochures.

I see not much has changed. :rimshot:

No differences between 16 and 17 to speak of and 18 other than some $ options. Same truck.

    16 with 0 issues.

i have a 17 Sport DC v6 manual 6 speed, only gripe I have, is the squeaky clutch. The auto trans seems to be an issue for some. I hear the 18's are going to have some more nanny safety stuff. Some have had ECU issues as well.

If I had it to do over again, I would buy the same truck or would have got a cement Pro as I think its the best color option on the 3rd gens.

Oh and its been confirmed the sport scoop is useless and OR hoods come apart.

Squeaky clutch was an issue on my '14. It was a TSB issue and the dealer replaced the whole clutch pedal assembly and master cylinder I think. The truck had 10,000 miles on it when it started squeaking/creaking/groaning. I have 50k on it and it has been fine since they did the work. May be worth having the dealer get involved.

At my 5k, they sprayed it with lith grease, by 5500 it came back, I am going to contact yota and let them know. Its my understanding they changed the clutch assembly in the 3rd gens, more plastic. I could deal with it myself, but want yota to fix it, and I will keep going back to them until my warranty is up.

Just what is rumored.... Find out in a few months I suppose. Just don't foresee any differences besides that. Which will raise the cost lol

That's the truth. Every owner I've met in real life loves their 16/17 and they laugh about the critics on Tacomaworld. Mine is my favorite truck ever, and I've owned a bunch of them.

Hate to be the bearer of subjectively bad news Alan, but there aren't likely to be any significant changes for the next three years, and if Toyota stays true to form, not till the 4th Gen. Well, maybe then, and there's no guarantee it'll be for the better.

Other than that...How can you improve on perfection??
    Cheers!
