    Was it a Cherry Pie?:D

I did not want a full size truck. The Ranger and Dakota (was not really interested in the Dakota anyway) were dropped. There was no way in hell I was buying a Chevy or GMC. The Frontier was not offered on a regular cab 4X4. That left only one truck - Tacoma.

My first truck was a Tacoma in 2001 and I have loved the ever since. I don't need a full size, but I do like having some bed space when I need it. 4x4 was a must for me and the Tacoma looks better than other trucks IMO. Also, can't beat them for reliability and resale.

I traded my Dodge Ram for a Lexus, wanted a truck again and was going to go check out a Chevy. My boss/friend who owns a Chevy told me, "You should get a Tacoma. Those things never die and the military depend on them. How many Chevys do you see going across the desert with a ton of guys in the back and a gun mounted? They use those trucks for a reason."

Oh and the Top Gear video kinda helped. :D

Looks & reliability & resale value. Almost bought a Frontier and glad I didn't. You're on a Tacoma forum. I don't think anyone would be here if we didn't love our trucks.

I owned a 95 taco for 7 years (my first truck bought in June of 04) a few months or so after I bought it, I was in my dentist's waiting room reading a car magazine. The main artical was on the remodel of the tacoma. I was infatuated with it and told myself one day I would have one. 7 years later I came across an older man selling my current truck almost 4 grand below book value. I love my first truck, but i needed to put about a gramd in it amd it woupd habe only been worth 1700 so sold it for $1300 when the stars aligned

When we sold our Mazda Tribute (SUV) it took me 2 days to clean out all of the dog hair from the interior. Wife wanted a Highlander, I was looking at the 4Runner.......then the dog hair flashback hit me. Purchased a 2006 DCSB, dogs (2 Yellow Labrador Retrievers) ride in the "way back" and no dog hair up front.

My first truck was an 02 Tacoma. I loved it, it did everything I wanted and needed it to do. Including pull a boat on the beach and launch it in to the surf. I never got stuck while other trucks did. I was even forced to go around other stuck trucks and boats into worse spots and never had a problem.

I love my new one so far, I hope it will do as well as my 02.

Oh yeah, I also love the Top Gear video.

I got the best price for my Tacoma. Frontier was more expensive and their salesman talked to me like he was not interested in selling his truck. So I went to a Toyota dealership and haggled untill they gave me what I wanted for a very good price.

Also, I sat in the back seats of both and Taco is SO MUCH MORE comfortable. The fact that it looks better and that I also have a Sienna that never failed me... Well, I always wanted a Tacoma anyway. Now I can drive it.

Did I mention it looks Fu...ing HOT?

Bought a Cherokee when I was 16, rallied the shit out of it for a couple months. Lifted it put 33's on it rallied some more and fixed alot. My dad and both brothers had Tacomas, always loved the look of them and got jelly at the amount of time I spent fixing the heep vs. the amount of time they spent not touching anything but the steering wheel. So after a year with the jeep bought a 95 T100, beat the hell out of it, anywhere I pointed it, it would go. It had been sitting for about 2 years until the time I got my hands on it, changed all the fluids and plugs and wires and loaded it up and drove it from Vermont to Montana without a single problem. Sold it after two years and bought the taco, haven't thought about getting any vehicle other than a Toyota since I bought that T100!

I just wanted a capable, reliable truck that I would enjoy driving for a long time to come. Had to be 4x4.

I'm a simple guy, I don't need problems, I couldn't find another vehicle to actually consider, made it easy.

My older neighbour had a 1st gen Tundra I used to think was the best looking truck I had ever seen , then the 2nd Gen Tacomas came out and it took everything I liked about his truck and made it even better , it was only a matter of time waiting to be able to afford to buy one after that

for me, it was love at first sight when I saw this pic on the internet:

    NM34905CU90435U0934_10cd650d7f8f60a29ad4dda26be396074d58fa09.jpg

almost 3 years later, I have had zero moments of regret op. (includes before and after the lift) in fact, I still crack a smirk and think 'woah..' whenever I walk outside and see tacomus prime patiently waiting for me:

    3456346646454_c578d5d46e99f34a3506e0f915eff59af6751e26.jpg

hope that helps you op. theres a lot more wasteful things you can do with your hard earned $ than to buy a Tacoma tho imo.

actually tho I do have one regret - that I didn't ditch my old car sooner :D

also, since you've clearly found tw, you should factor in the extra $ that this site will cause you to spend on your new taco ;)

    1. Impressive straight line performance.

    2. I cannot get by without a Truck.
