A basic course on what insurance is (isn't) and how it works should be compulsory is HS.

Does research show an increasing number of uninsured motorists too ?? I had a vehicle a couple years ago get hit, person gave me their info however it was outdated and told me to give them a call later they’d provide an updated account if anything changed. Never answered another call and the state said nothing I could do… my insurance picked up even though I wasn’t the cause of the issue… maybe isolated but I think not

    progressive $650/6months

Did you call the police when you had the accident? I always call the police non-emergency if there's no injuries to report it. Police reports go a long way with insurance companies. If they don't send anyone out, you can go to the station and fill out a report. Take a pic of the other driver's license & insurance too.

Your premium is a little high. My most expensive vehicle to insure is our 3500HD and that is 404.00 every six. We do have a multi car discount with homeowners.

I'm with State Farm, 23 years next month, never a claim, ticket or accident so far and I'm currently paying $1030 a year for full coverage for a 2014 Ford Fusion and my 2020 TRD Sport. The Tacoma is $674 a year.

I investigated moving to Colorado about a year ago and part of my research was to check insurance premiums. I stopped at a local State Farm office in Greeley and got a quote. It was $1000 higher than what I'm paying in Pennsylvania.

So, "inflation" is the catch-all justification for everything right now, including my school and property taxes but there seem to be many variables relative to insurance premiums. Location, age, driving record, vehicle owned, "bundling" of policies. I also have my homeowners with State Farm, so I get a discount for that. I installed the State Farm vehicle monitoring device, so they know how much, where and how I drive. I get a discount for that as well.

Was $823 every 6mo w/ progressive for my 07 tacoma, 08 highlander, and 12 cummins. I'm 30 years old, 1 accident within last 10 years, and bundled with their home insurance. It's about to change as I've sold both the cummins and highlander and moved states recently. We shall see how it moves. I usually shop around every 6mo but progressive has been the lowest for me for the past 3 billing cycles.

Mandatory Auto insurance is one of those socialist policies (i.e. racket) that helps to keep prices going up for everyone regardless of how well they drive or how safe they are.

Could you imagine how quickly prices would drop if they got rid of the government mandate for it? Either that or cars would stop becoming so luxurious or...go away pretty much completely for the masses.

I think it would go back to the former as that's how the auto market worked before mandatory insurance to some degree.

You sir, are high. People still get in accidents regardless of their history or safety. Adverse incidents happen without notification, moving away from insurance would have the inverse affect on pricing. Get real

I'm not saying accidents don't happen. I'm saying if insurance wasn't government mandated the 2nd and 3rd order affects would eventually help reduce it's costs.

So many variables to consider, so comparing is challenging.

I've been with State Farm for 20+ years for both auto and homeowners, so there's a multi-line discount. I've had 2 not at fault claims in that time period (1 hit & run and 1 moose collision). No at fault claims or speeding tickets, ever. I'm paying $460 annually for full coverage on my 2011 Tacoma. I just bought a 2021 Tundra and that's $600 annually for full coverage. I carry much better coverage than the minimum required for full coverage.

State Farm, i pay 270/6 months. just got my 2013 and had to put full coverage on it for the lien holder. I have a lot of discounts including no claims, multi-car discount, have homeowners insurance with them also.

American Family. I’m 40, no claims, no accidents, clean record, and small discount for also having homeowners too. Just paid off the lien but still maintain comprehensive plus umbrella. Coverage limits are increased higher than lowest mandatory levels. It’s about $100 even a month, would be $80 without umbrella. For me, the small increase in cost versus what I’d save and lose on coverage limits isn’t worth it, YMMV. AmFam has always done right by our family though when we did have claims and I’ll probably be with them for life.

Damn! I don’t remember my exact coverage- but I have GEICO, and pay $260 for 6mos. Been with them for 20 years, since State Farm dropped me for too many windshield/window replacements- (had a crazy ex)

$400 every 6 months for me in Minneapolis metro. I use an insurance broker who switches my insurance every 18 months or so.

About 10 years ago I thought that if you stay with a company they would give you a good rate for being a safe driver. I was with All State for almost 10 years with zero claims and perfect driving record, then my cousin told me about how he saved a ton of money by switching companies. I dropped All State like a bad habit and cut my insurance bill in half.
Now the second a company increases my costs more than 10% I drop them.

Same goes with home owners insurance every couple years go shopping for a new provider, you will be kicking yourself for how much money you wasted staying loyal.

These threads are worthless because of all of the variables.

One example - I’m paying $28/month for my supercharged 2015 Tacoma.

Everybodys has gone way up,if you shop around you will get a fake good price, then 6 months later your new insurance raises the rate right back to where your old insurance was,so don't bother.

What one person pays for insurance has zero to do with what anyone else will pay for insurance. Trying to shop by price based on what other people pay is a total waste of time. The ONLY way to know that you're getting the best price for YOU is to get multiple quotes for identical coverage from multiple companies and compare them. Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit.
