Every time I see one of those 270-degree awnings and/or a huge rtt bro-verland setup, this is all I can think of:

This is one of the funniest yet truthful threads I have ran across in quite a while.

As the crow flies lol. I actually wasted time one night trying to find the most remote spot in the continental US that was further than 25 miles from a road as the crow flies. I failed.

Pretty weird thinking about how there’s pavement and no dirt between my driveway here in So Cal all the way to someone
else’s driveway living in Bangor, Maine.

What about northern Maine? There’s nothing up there but dirt logging roads.

It looks like 18.76 miles "as-the-crow-flies" at the West Thorofare Plateau in Wyoming. Alaska excluded, of course.

As someone whose worked forestry in northern ME, you're never too far from a road. They're always dirt and they might be a winter road but there's tons of em up there

It’s dirt though. I thought the discussion was about paved roads?

I got some of the stuff and a road map for the rest...
Overlanding is spending a bunch of money to live like poor people.

I just got home from a 10,500 mile camping roadtrip. 21 national parks, 30 states, 7 weeks with my 2 boys.

    Here's a picture of my set-up...

I did a trip with my Grandpa during one summer. We went to every State West of the Mississippi and even into Canada. Did it in a Ford Club Wagon Van. Your boys are lucky to have been given memories that will last a lifetime!!

You're telling me! Dang, I had to adjust my headlights all the way down while camping at Grand Canyon because I was blinding everyone at night!

I need to research what I need for the heavy load in back. I assumed another leaf or something but maybe a lift also?

I dragged my bike rack several times when I just couldn't angle right out of parking lots...

I can’t imagine driving my truck for that many miles sagging like that. Look into Old Man Emu leaf packs along with a 1.5-2” front lift.

I think it's because you keep switching from highway to paved road.
