All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
And only if those Birkenstocks are the heeled leather london clog model!
I used to overland in these before it was a word. I am on my 6th pair since I was a teen! Almost waterproof

I just watched that a few days ago. My friends wanted me to go with them but I had to work. What a mess but would have been some amazing memories.

I remember the ‘94 one being all fucked up and we were about to go sell water and then the gates came down. Being in a place where all the cops flocked to was not in our best interest. When they put on the ‘99 festival we were like hell no, sausage fest. And my girlfriend at the time was stupid hot so I wasn’t about to take into a see of half masted cocks. But I did got to “the Clifford ball” in Plattsburgh. Giant phish show with 250k people, I think there was a birth and a death during the four or five days. No riots, nothing got burnt down. But Fred durst wasn’t on stage screaming “give me something to break”.

Exactly what I think of seeing these photos, except it reminds me how happy I am in the Southwest.

I didn't know those existed. I've been looking for something to replace my Chacos since my feet are fucked and after a day of yard work or hiking in Chacos my feet are killing me. If it weren't for Birkenstocks I'd have a permanent limp.

Man sounds like you need to see a chiropractor I’d be walking like my dad if I hadn’t. I think I preferred the “Boston” birks. But the Londons used to come in nonslip.

I went to a podiatrist a few years back. He took some x-rays, did an exam, than just said to wear Birkenstocks as much as possible, and recommended some orthotics for when I couldn't. It's been working for the most part. Still can't run like I used to, but running is probably what screwed my feet up to begin with, seeing as I wore minimalist shoes and pushed 100 miles a week at my peak.

For a minute there I didn’t wear shoes, outside of work at least. My feet got pretty tough. I could step on cigarettes and walk on oak leaves. Had some minanlisy shoes but they felt restrictive. I lost my shit on someone and yelled at them , the next day I woke up and couldn’t stand up. All that stress in my back. Took two years of every other week going to the chiropractor to stand straight again. Now I’m a little bit calmer and deal with my stress better.

This really has been a great fucking thread! Everything from brolander bashing to the best shoes for shopping at the local farmers market with your BFF. Hell, we even got a commercial for a nice new 1 acre glamping site in North Carolina. Now that's quality message board entertainment!

PS; I am a Wolverine 1000 mile boot fan myself. Got a damn closet full of USA made leather boots. I just hope my kids know what they are worth when I go TU.

Overland; on trails even, where you can't get in a vehicle no matter how much you spend on gear.

The problem I have with the hard-core narcissist in the community is the fact that they have a huge following they have followers on Instagram and other social media accounts but they’re supposed to be the face of the Overland community and what they say goes in matters and they’re very influential a convincing people. But the fact is these dudes in real life are just nothing more than suburban nerds who can’t even use a screwdriver

I think you and I are in the same place with our feet lol! I beat the shit out of mine in chacos my whole like. Now I wear Asolo Renegades for a shoe, to support my broken as foot. I own a landscape company and beat the hell out of my feet in shoes of every nature. One year I could barely walk without it feeling like a had a rock in my shoe.

    thanks.
when i tell the wife im running to the store, i usually put on my birkenstocks and drive my overland rig.
youtube north american overlanding shows crack me up. cant take a shit without a special tent.mostly sales promotion to flog gear. always entertaining to see maxx powell break something
i learn from the austrailian shows; ronnie dahl, 4wd 24-7 and 4XOverland.
even those get to be too much.sometimes.
too bad, but definition of overlanding is hijacked and defined by youtube marketers.

From what I've seen it's people who want to look like they offroad, but actually don't want to in fear of getting stuck, and or breaking. So they accessorize thier trucks to look the part, and drive down some gravel fire roads to a campsite.
