    Those toy haulers are nice. And youre right, they would have a much lower tongue weight than a pop-up with a cargo basket. You'd probably need a WDH to handle the latter. The one big thing I love about mine is that it sits in the garage when not in use, always at the ready. Friday night, I pack an overnight bag, hitch, and go. Monday morning, the only evidence that I went anywhere is a coating of dust on the truck. The only object that rides during the weekday commute is my briefcase, as it should be.

    I have! Of course being in Idaho, heard it referred to the Mississippi of the PNW…they aren’t far off. 30 minutes outside of Boise is like a different planet. Then you have Little California in Meridian and Eagle.

    Could get all your overlanding needs within a half of an hour. lol!

    Yeah it would suck towing, not into band-aiding it either.

    Already have 5X8 utility trailer, might build a pop up square drop box for it. Only do 3 individual week long trips a year. Makes more financial sense doing that for $1500-2000 than dropping $25K on the inTech.

    For sure! My buddy has one, looks like a pain in the ass to setup for me. Have a Wildernest on my 1st Gen…awful just awful in the wind. Though I had it long before the whole overlanding thing became a thing. It was ok, it seemed like every time I got it setup, wanted to go somewhere. Always have a bike with me, but don’t always want to get geared up, rather just jump in the truck. Dropping a trailer is more ideal. Even with my buddy’s RV we had my truck to run around in. Not sure I want any type of camper tied to the vehicle.

    There is only 1 culture in America, and that is American. You won't be interacting with any other cultures while overlanding in the US.

    All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    Yep, same guys different name. It’s addictive to watch. They do a really good job on editing and keeping you entertained. I really like how they keep things light even when the shit hits the fan.

    I bought a generator military trailer for this purpose, for $1200. Put uprights and my tent on it, was able to pull 3 dirt bikes and 1 big atv.
    Before the build. These work great and are longer than the straight up generator trailers.

    Overlanding is just a culture and outfit style for a vehicle at this point. But that’s ok, it’s led to a lot of new products for all the camping/offroad gear heads out there, so take advantage of it.

    @Rock Lobster.

    Thinking of building something like this only a bit taller to get the bikes in, plus a pop up so I can standup and change into moto gear. Already have a cot for sleeping. Be good enough for what I do, without going over board.

    Exact trailer I already have.

    There is that, market has been dry for decades. Only thing available for a long time was clapped out Flip Pacs and Wildernests. Nice to see a resurgence in those type of campers.

    Apparently it's something you can only do in a third generation Tacoma.

    Edit: apparently it's something so dumb it can only be discussed in the third generation sub forum.

    Shouldn’t be too difficult, currently pricing out parts. Thinking of using a fiberglass tonneau cover off an 8’ truck bed for the poptop.

    Was going to rent an inTech for my upcoming trip to the Rainier area in Washington, it was going to be roughly $1000, for a little more can just build something similar with what I already have. My buddy with the RV is going so probably wait until this winter to build it.
