    3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
    Single stage white paint. All clear is gone and I have bare metal showing on the bed. Good call Toyota.

    Neither my 86 or my 91 had tachs, you had to listen to the truck to shift.

    The good old days when you had to pay attention when you were driving..... :burnrubber:

    Well I do know when to shift. But I would guess you never really knew where redline was? Sure I don't rally my truck but there's been a couple times where I didn't have time or power to upshift but needed to keep momentum/speed up (up a muddy hill for instance).

    Also it's an easy way for the wife to know when to shift. She knows what a tire is but has no idea how it works. Not everyone who drives my truck knows how it works.

    I don't think you meant to take a stab at my driving abilities, but I think if I wasn't paying attention on the road I might not be still driving? :notsure:

    No stab at your driving abilities.... red line was when the engine sounded too stressed and you learned when to shift based on speed and feel. You HAD pay attention to know when to shift as a tach was a luxury item.


    Made you more of an aware driver, not like most that you see behind the wheel today.

    My brother had a Suzuki Swift that had green lights that came on when it was time to shift. I think they were arrows, up & down.

    I’m sure this will ruffle a few feathers, but I hate how hard it’s becoming to find clean stock first gens.


    IMO these trucks are like Honda Civics. It seems like the more they change hands the more nasty and cheap the upgrades become.


    If I had a dollar for everyone I looked at that had:


    Cigarette burns in the seats

    Plasti Dip AIDS

    DIY bed liner crapola in a can

    Rancho parts as a selling bonus

    A salvage title


    I’d be a wealthy man

    @Itchyfeet I agree with you on not seeing many stock ones around. They're rare, and they're great trucks to begin with. But, I can understand wanting to personalize them to fit individual needs & wants. To that owner, they're making a great truck even better for them.

    alot still need done
    If I had to pick something it would be drum brakes on the rear. Be switching to disc brakes this rear. I just don't trust drums

    X2 on the crappy bed liner. I am dealing with that.

    I hate cheap 'mods'.

    Now a legit sprayed in bedliner..........that IS a selling point.

    Clean trucks are still out there.... They are just harder and harder to find.

    My truck is pretty clean and nothing is broken in the interior at all but I do hate the clock position too as well as the seats which are uncomfortable but only on long rides. Idk I kinda love my truck. My brothers truck on the other hand, I could write a book, cigarette burns, stains on the carpet, beat up steering wheel, dead clock, seats are dirty, no radio, barely any a/c, used to have a plastic bed liner so theres some rust in the bed, cup holders SUCK, the worst cup holders I've ever seen and theres only 2 of them. Its a '95 though so he's got 6 more years of wear than me.

    You're patient. I caved and bought an Autogauge one that (almost) matches the stock cluster and mounted it on top of the steering column

    Don't understand this. Drums work great, and I've never even had to change the shoes in mine lol

    OK, then I will say IMO there are many advantages to disk brakes over drums. Drum brakes may be cheap, easy to maintain, easily used as an e-brake and they require less hydrolic pressure to achieve the same stopping power but, they over heat easily and are more likely to fail. If debris or water gets in a drum brake it can impact the function of the brakes for an extended period of time. For the same stopping power drum brakes are heavier which increases the unsprung weight reducing ride quality and fuel economy. Disk braked tend to be self cleaning, have fewer parts to fail, are self adjusting, can maintain greater stopping power under heavy use... I could go on... As for never having to change the shoes on your rear brakes, disks would be no different. The rear brakes don't really get used much. For a performance vehicle disk brakes win but are not always worth the increased cost.
