What is a good price for a solid axle?

Gone shopping for a solid axle to put on my 90 Toyota. I have a few prospects, all coming off of 81-85 4x4 toyota trucks. What would be a good price for one of these? One guy is asking $300, axle comes off of an 81 auto. I am not sure if it is on the truck or off. Another place says we can talk about the price depending on which one I choose, they have multiple.

What axles are you looking at? Toyota axles?

Have you searched for Grand Wagoneer Dana 44's?

Most of the Solid Axle Swaps I've seen have used Jeep Grand Wagoneer Dana 44. The same axle I swapped under my jeep years ago.

Mine was from an 89 Grand Wagoneer - drivers side drop, 60" wide, no vacuum disconnect.

I bought a set of Dana 44's (front & rear) for $500. The front included all brake hardware & steering hardware.

 

The only Dana 44 axles I have been able to find come off of Ford trucks/Broncos. I have access to 2 78 broncos sitting at my dads, both have Dana 44's. These are not leafed fronts. I have considereed these but ran across some stock toyota truck 4x4's. In which case I would only need to by a SAS kit and the front solid axle off of one of these trucks. The gears would match up with mine if I can find an auto donor.

They are usually listed for anywhere between 200-300 for a stock toy axle. Add gearing, lockers and brake upgrades and the price increases quickly. The early toy axle would be a great choice for your ride. you would need a set of 1.5" or so wheel spacers to get your front track width equal to the rear though.

I hadn't even thought to update. I picked up and entire front end (hub to hub) off of an 81 Toyota truck. The new front axle has the same gears my existing rear has. I pressure washed it and set it to the side until my funds enable me to do what I need. Thanks for all the input.
