Just purchased a 2017 TRD PRO. Thinking of up grading the tires to BFG KO2s what is the biggest tire I could mount with out issues. Love the truck just the way it is and not wanting to change much.

275 x 70 x 16 BFG KO2, removed charcoal filter, K&N filter, LED for; interior lights, bed, back-up and license plate. Pioneer 8200 NEX / car play / Idatalink, Raised Tacoma black letters ( tailgate) Red line Tuning hood quick lift Elite, Factory roof rack.
I had the dealer exchange the passenger tires and installed the BFG K02's. 275 x 70 x 16 with no issues or modifications. 285's might work.

285's will rub. I have an sr5 with a 2.5/1.5 lift and it still rubs against the mud flaps when turning and hit a bump. Stay with 265's or 275's. I have aftermarket wheels, so a stock wheel might take 285's, but I doubt it.

Why would you replace 265's with 275 or 285's? There isn't a ton of difference. Why not wait until you need new tires? Get some spacers to make the tires sit wider, and stick with the 265's it came with.

You should learn how tire sizes work. Just because it has 265 wide tires doesn't mean they're very big. A 265/75-16 would be a good improvement over stock

Putting bigger heavier tires is going to kill your MPG. If you want bigger 265/75 would be a good choice with little to no rubbing.

Really? You should probably know your shit before calling someone out on here. 265/75-16 vs. the stock 265/70-16 is a lot of difference? 265 is the height of the tire, so both will be the same height. The 70 vs 75 is the percentage the width of the tire, of the height of the tire. 265 millimeters is 10.43 inches. the 70 series factory tire is 7.511 inches wide (70% of 10.43) , and the 75 tire is 7.82 inches wide (75% of 10.43), making the 265/75-16 tire a whopping .30 inches wider, and the exact same height. If you think and extra third of an inch wide is a good improvement, and a wise way to spend over a grand for a new set of tires, you're nuts. In my opinion.

I was under the impression that 265 was the width of the tire and 70 was the height of the sidewall. Is this incorrect?

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

I may have it backwards, but you are talking about a very small difference between a 265/70 and 265/75

    What in the fuck....

    Dude...please tell me you're trolling?
Seriously, you're calling @Aussiek2000 out like he's an idiot? Dude he knows more than you. Seriously wtf?
A quick google search would educate you so much on how fuckin wrong you are. 265 etc is the width in mm, 70 is the ratio for sidewall height...like seriously wtf.
use the tire calculator on here it will even tell you that.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc

    No, you are correct.

    You'd be correct. A/B/C
Where A is the width of the tire (265), B is the percentage of the width in the I believe radius? (70) and C is the wheel size.

Edit: or look at what @Joe23 said above me, that's what I was getting at
