I agree with Maypearl, wait till you need tires. Why spend the money now. I am waiting till I need tires but then I will move up a little, and maybe new rims then too.

Without a larger lift and trimming the cab mount, you aren't going to be able to fit very much bigger tires in there. If you want 275 or 285 you will definitely have to trim the cab mount.

A skinnier tire would be an option like a 255/80 or 255/85. Are the rims that come on the pro 16 inches?

depends on what each person is using the truck for.

I'll be sizing up as soon as mine comes in.
If you're actually going off road (depending on degree) you'd need larger tires.
But given its ko2s I'm thinking just wants to look good while mall crawling lol

Not to mention he has gone through like 17 pairs of tires in the last 2 years, I would think the dude knows what the F he is talking about....

They are good tires no doubt, but heavy.

Aussiek2000 I stand corrected and apologize. I stand by my point that the is barely any difference in the two sizes. Take that $1000 and put it in a nice Roth 401K and pay cash for that 2040 Tacoma Pro

    Cause they're a bro lol.

KO2s are decent off road, shit on road. Plenty of better options.

    Ummmm..... no.
265 is the width in milimeters.
70 is the percentage of the height of the sidewall of the tire compared to the width. Therefore, a 265/70 has a sidewall height that is 70% of 265mm.

So 265/75 and 265/70 are 5% different sidewall height. The only difference is the height of the tire.

    16 is the wheel diameter.

Some guy on here has a Pro with 285s. Looks great and he said no rubbing with little trimming. I have 285 70 17 on 17x9 Rims on my 2010. They are going on my 17 Pro as soon as it arrives!!

Other thing to consider when it comes to tires for those saying don't buy just yet wait until you need them. Well what if he does need them now?
If he plans on going off road, size isn't the only thing to consider what about actual tread.
A nice hybrid AT like the Cooper ST Maxx or something could perform better off road than the factory tire.

Good point Joe, I didn't think of that point of view. My off road drive is just gravel, mud, and rough country roads. I will only eventually upgrade for a better look.

Under flex the 285s will rub though.
So if all he's doing is mall crawling he'll be fine

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
Go big n black or go home 35x12.5xR17 with a standard AT pattern is the biggest you can go. I have too aggressive of a pattern and even after a cab mount chop I still rub. Needed to add spacers to clear.

But if the Pro is 1" higher then the rest of the tacomas and the Gen 3 tacomas are 1" higher then the Gen2 tacomas and the Pro has a wider factory stance then all the tacomas then why can't he fit 285s? OH fuck it I'll just Google it!!:rofl::rofl::boink:

The Pro also has a factory 2" lift on it as I understand. That helps!
