My truck has 273k and I’ve been leaking oil since 200k lol. (Not like a lot but enough to be a little low during oil changes)

400,000 for me, between 2 rigs.
180K on '04 4x4 and 225K on '04 Prerunner. Both of them are solid no issue trucks. No leaks or major malfunctions, only little things like light bulbs and tires so far. I am getting ready to do suspension, shocks and springs, on the TRD. I just put on a cap & heavy duty rack , so I'm looking to avoid issues down the road.
    Love these trucks!

oops I forgot that each has had a timing belt put on and it's probably time again. Also did plugs and wires thanks to the sticky up above. Helped a lot. My fuel filters are the next project before suspension upgrade

Thats not a diesel rated oil.

If you're running a 40wt and its still "clacking" its not the oil.

Wasn't aware he 'wanted' a diesel rated oil, just cheap, thick and not total crap. Castrol 20-50W was the go-to when I was a kid for hot weather especially air cooled 4 strokes.

I agree if 40 isn't thick enough, nothing short of bananas will help.

I don't even want to argue whether a thick oil is ok in hot weather. BTOG covers this ad nauseum and I defer to their opinions on oiling, I'm just pointing out that Mobil 1 is cheap and good and since he doesn't have a diesel, why not. 10 bux a gal. is cheap enough to pour down a oil burner even.

A few of those bearings look like they got a little hot from lack of oil !!!!

Thats fine. Usually the "Diesel" spec oils have high TBN which makes them more resistant to wash down and contaminants. Also they tend to be more sheer stable. If the OP is having these issues then a Diesel would be good. I wouldn't necessarily see why but I digress.

Especially since the truck has a heat exchanger oil/water

Because internets said they is the best. :annoyed:
