I know people who steal it may well just disassemble and find the tag, but assuming I have a few hours to locate the truck first ... where can it be hidden in a place it will still transmit?

random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Correct me if I am wrong but there was an update to AirTags. In order for you to track an AirTag it should be within range of someone with an iPhone plus it will let that individual know there’s an AirTag around being tracked. this was to mitigate stalkers for using it as a hidden tracking device.

They’re supposed to do that, but only if the person has an iPhone and is around the AirTag for long enough. I forgot to remove mine from a truck I sold in October and it’s still there. It spent a few months in Albuquerque, NM and now resides in Sleepy Hollow, IL.

This is to locate the truck. LEO is paid to confront the criminals and will make it abundantly clear that I should let them.

Glued to the inside of the plastic tailgate topper. Once installed it will have good antenna propagation as it won't be shielded by any metal.

You could mount it inside the Tailgate.

None of the Amazom or google ad services will help ... do not use those. Criminals use their iPhones more than I (I might have to add a data plan to my TMobile service ...) and are savvy to what we do to protect so it is till 50/50 that they find it and ditch it fast. But $30 against $45k 3rd Gen that will have no "new" replacement after this fall ...

Well, definitely don’t hide it anywhere that was mentioned openly on this forum!

Do you want it to be difficult to find? But almost easily accessible to you?

Remove some plastic trim panels, or glove box, or tape it to the ECM, or whatever.

You can hide it literally anywhere with Velcro or tape hidden under a plastic panel.

and no. I won’t tell you where I put mine.

Just don’t put it in the fuse box, terrible place.

Also look up how to remove the speaker on them- keeps them from beeping and making themselves easier to find. It’s a very easy modification.

I have them on my truck, bike and in my expensive equipment bags. It’s only people who have updated IOS on their phones that get a warning- so most people probably don’t.
