I went to place a shirt on a hanger inside my 2017 SR5 AC to find this! OK, I'm chronologically challenged and all but had the sense to go page by page over the owners manual to find that this plastic tab where a cloth hanger should be is a mystery to me. I tried to see if it was some kind of hidden hanger to no avail.

Any idea what this thing is? P1050366.jpg

Well TC I went through all four pages of that thread and hope to hell this thread dies right here! I've got stomach cramps from laughing so hard! And I doubt the old heart can take it anymore.

That is not the correct answer.

It is called an Assist Grip plug.

It covers the hole when you are not using an Assist Grip that helps you get in and out of the vehicle. Like the one shown below.

Not too sure where this thing is in the cab, but it looks like it might hold down the "shark fin"...?? Remove it and see what happens..!

Don't think it's up front like BRNG ITT suggests... but that was a good idea..!

I work on the robotics and automation systems for the Tundras and Tacomas and at the manufacturing plant. I have direct access to the design engineers.

Now let's throw logic into this. Depending on the generation and truck, there are about 4 clips that hold the headliner up in the back, while the front and sides are held up by trim pieces. So the engineers decided to hide all of the clips without access covers so that they are not seen, except for 1. And didn't install one on the passenger side, just the driver side. Hmmmm.

    Oh, and there's this:

    IMG_0151.jpg
    IMG_0152.jpg

So guess I'll stand by my statement too.
