    Probably.

If i press the button and hold it. then my remote key unlock/lock still works. The horn just doesn't honk, so I'm assuming the alarm isn't activating.

Does it go..."beep beep" when you use remote to lock your doors?

I think my alarm is a dealer installed one, ie not from the factory.

I have a stock Toyota alarm in my truck- no button though. Only a small microphone and "security" led in the center console by where the A-Trac button would be.

It does not do anything if you have the key in the truck. If the little red truck symbol in the center of your dash is on or flashing, it has read that the key is near.

Try this- open your windows and use your fob to lock the truck. Chirps twice. Then put your fob and key 30 feet from the truck (however far it is that the RFID chip cannot read the key). Walk back and open the doors by reaching in through the window. Run back and get fob to shut off horn gone wild.:D

I guess it's different if you have just an Immobilizer and no alarm? The security light for me doesn't stop until I actually put the key in.

But even then, the 09 Camry we have has toyota's alarm system, and even with the key in the car and unlocked (but not in the ignition), the security light still flashes.

And I don't think you need to go so far to test the alarm. Just open the window before you shut off the truck. Set the alarm, wait till the security light goes from steady on, to flashing that means the system is armed. Then pull the door handle open and see if the alarm goes off.

Sorry, my bad. You are right- the light does not stop flashing until key is in the ignition.

I think it’s a gyroscopic bangalorum controller manual override do not use the override at speeds below mach 1.
