Alot. You need to drop the trans and remove the flywheel to get to the seal.

it is a 50 dollar part

it's a 1/2 day job for someone with a lift, tranny lift, and all toyota SST's
3 hours, maybe 4 hours if this is a 4x4...and these estimates of time are tight
    [could get told 8 hours]

simple job, but getting to it is time con$uming

absolutely use the OEM toyota replacement, do not ever use an aftermarket seal

annnnnnd, if bothering to do the rear, may as well do the front. something
made it fail, so chances are the front is worth checking/replacing

My rear main seal has been leaking for about a year now. It's a very slow leak so my mechanic told me not to worry about it until it gets faster, or if the tranny needs to be dropped for another reason.

Yep, rear main. Just had mine replaced under the 70k mile power train warranty. Took them an entire day but came out good. Hard hits during offroading, an accident, or major flexing could cause this.

How many miles does your truck have?
Pressure wash the area off and see how long it takes to show leakage again, rear main seal leaks are normally slow, looks like it has been leaking for a long time.

I would clean the entire area and recheck it first. While it is common to have the rear main seal leak, that oil pan gasket looks like it has suffered from over tightening. The leaking oil will blow back while going down the road, and make it LOOK like a rear main seal is leaking. Inspect and verify before you take anything apart.

I have about 130000 on it and have been noticing little oil spots on the driveway for bout a week but yesterday it was much more. Changed the oil last night so I let the truck run while I was laying under it for a good while to see if I could spot the leak...nothing. So left it overnight and when I left for work this morning there was still no leak, however when I got to work it had started again. Almost looks like its coming from the inspection hole right above and behind the oil pan.

Hmm I will have to clean it when I get home...had the truck since 70000 miles and this is the first oil that has ever leaked. Is it common for the pan gasket to go out like that just out of nowhere? Again thanks to everyone for helping me out on this...I hate when I cant figure out what is wrong with my baby lol

Where the arrow is pointing is a black plastic cover...inspection hole is what I think it is called(what my buddy called it)... If you take it off there are two bolts about 4 to 6 inches up inside of it. Hard to see but pretty sure there is oil up there on one of the bolts.

    02374a16-2c71-4232-b819-f3d98975378b_zps_a4bade727a1d79d55c790248ef234d1563323dd8.jpg

This arrow is showing the plastic cover being taken off

    61bca5a3-f665-44b2-b440-057f73e4c14f_zps_c5d1dd52e113123193045d2b33ab2eb84b4230e9.jpg

And these two arrows show the bolts up inside the hole. The bolt on the right seems to have oil on it.

If it is seeping out from that area you indicated with the arrow, then yes, you may be looking at rear main seal. Also, as mentioned recently, if it leaks under load, then higher probability of rear main seal, however I still think your pan gasket looks like it could be leaking some as well. If you don't have a 4wd, then that pan gasket is an easy fix.
