I just bought a 2000 Tacoma 2.7 last week from a friend and I crawled under to find the oil filter and found some sort of liquids on the outside of the tranny, do I have some sort of leak? I never find any fluid on the ground.

The truck has 385k miles btw ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372290896.627990.jpg

it looks like engine oil. it could be residual from oil change, or it could be from your rear main seal, could be from oil pan. clean it all off, and check it later.

Rear main seal. Mine does it too but because I sunk it in a mud pond. Might as well change the clutch out while you're at it, if you're running a 5 speed.

look at the back of the valve cover there may be a round plastic seal that caps of a round area. my 5vzfe has them idk about the 4 bangers. i had the same problem jus put a nice layer of rtv on it and itll be good.
